Looks like the 'runner took a tumble. Project? Or rescue / recovery?

Always loved that generation of 4Runners. Maybe one day I'll have one as a toy.

Check the build link in my signature.
My wife had a 93 when we met. It was too small to fit kids and car seats so we sold it in 2007. Kind of wish we hadn’t... would be the perfect rig for my youngest that wants a “truck” but would do better with a bit more passenger space.

If you end up in the market for one, you really want the 1996 - 2002 Gen-3 (your wife's '93 was a Gen-2). The Gen-2 V6 was the 3.0 (three-point-slow) that didn't have the best rep.
Look out for rust though -- same as our Tundras. Problem areas are the frame: just before the rear axle (particularly on the passenger side), rocker panels, and dog-leg at the rear wheel wells.
Also, for some reason failure of the trans cooler in the radiator is more prevalent in these 4Runners than in Tacomas and Tundras even though the radiator/cooler design appears to be similar if not identical. Causing the dreaded pink milkshake (trans fluid/coolant mixing). I had it happen on my well maintained '02 with about 140K miles. Replacement radiator is only $120, so the consensus is to just do it as preventive maintenance every 100K.

Things happen unfortunately but when it does happen it's best to be towed by another Yota!

The best vehicle I have ever owned. 200k on the original radiator before it started weeping.

I had Funx automotive in Calgary do the install, he’s a bit of a genius ;). He found them on Kijiji used for $100 and did a quick couple of mods on the lines to attach to the bumper.... was about 1/3 the $$ in the end.

It’s going on for a body swap. It was a slow roll and crushed the top and panels. It has the 3.4 - with 275km. Keeping the frame and motor and taking the body off a Florida 4runner (no rust.) the Florida rig is a 2.7 2wd so it’s the best of both worlds. Just gotta find a chassis for the 2.7 now.
