    Hello everyone,

So time for new tires for the 2018 1794 with 2019 TRD PRO Fox shocks and Factory 18 in BBS PRO rims.

Seems like everyone wants to know the biggest tire size you can put on the TRD PRO or other Tundras. Don’t get me wrong that’s great info and thanks for hours of post i have read over.

I’m asking anyone that actually takes their 2019-2020 Stock TRD PRO off road such as Tundra’s to Sedona, or out in the desert, rough gravel log roads etc.

What would be the most practical tire size that is not to big of to small, and that when i hit that huge pot hole or dump the tire down in a ditch I’m not to take out my fender or completely damage the truck with the tire in any fashion?

Also would like to know if anyone with a particular size tire on these trucks has had any issues airing down and the tire getting damaged by the upper control arm?

Right now i have the stock 275/65/18.

Any advice or photos of the trucks would be great showing the different tire size that has been used in a off-road situation without any issues.

285/70/18 Nitto Ridge Grappler, GoRhino steps, Console safe - much more to come.
Without adding additional lift, I recommend 285/70/18. Just added them to my 2020 Pro and am very happy with them. Went with Ridge Grapplers. Discount Tire shows the actual diameter at 33.98” while the 295/70/18 are only a little taller (34.29”). The 285s also give you a little extra room between the tire and your UCA. You could always add the Westcott lift if you want to safely go with 295s or full 35s.

285/70/18 nice I’m sure the truck looks pretty with that size.

So no rubbing anywhere or having to remove anything?

I been looking at the Ridge Grapplers, Ko2, and Toyo ATIII.

Since I added the TRD FOX shocks the truck just doesn’t feel as stable as it should. I also have 30,000 + on the stock tires. Hoping I can get a E rated tire to make the ride fell a little more planted.

No rub at all, nothing removed. Full lock, full flex, etc. The tires are expensive though. I purchased 5 Ridge Grapplers which cost approx $2k at Discount Tire. Worth it though. Great tires.

Only drawback is not many tires available in that size.

P.S. Schnebly Hill and Broken Arrow are two of my favorite trails. Took my last build (GX 460) all over Sedona/Telluride/Ouray/and so on..

    Happy hunting.

Nice sounds like you have played a little with the truck.

Thanks for confirmation on the no rubbing on full lock and flex. Yes I know I’m going to spending a lot on tires that’s why I’m trying to talk to others that have played with their trucks a little.

I just found out about Tundras to Sedona last year, haven’t gone yet but definitely on my list. I’m in CA but own a home outside of Tucson so I know AZ can be fun.

Nothing wrong with just owning and driving a nice truck on the pavement all the time, I’m just building mine so I have options when I do find myself out playing.

Stoked on this thread. Very useful. I don't give two shits about biggest tire -- I bought the PRO to be used offroad, and fast on dirt roads. Come summer, I'll be looking for a solid option.

Glad you like the topic. So ya a researched the crap out of what would be the best tire and size for
My needs of playing fast on dirt roads, no other suspension mods then the TRD FOX shocks I installed on her, and what would work with the TRD BBS PRO rims from a 2020 I purchased new and installed.
285/70/18 is a perfect fit. Absolutely no running anywhere, added about an inch of ground clearance, and was even able to buy a fifth tire and Fifth BBS rim which fit under the bed with No modifications to the spare tire holder. I was even able to keep the little air dam mud flap on the front of the truck.

Sweet!! What tires did you end up buying? I've always been a K2O guy, but I've seen a ton of good reviews on the Ridge Grapplers.

I originally was set on Toyo ATIII. That changed when I narrowed my tire size to the 285/70/18. I went with my second choice which was the Ridge Grapplers.
I’m very happy with grapplers and should of been my first choice.
One the Grapplers are lighter then the Toyo’s, they look better, they came in the size I wanted which the Toyo didn’t.
The only down fall, which would of been nice but doesn’t really matter for me is that the ATIII are rated 3 mountain peak. Grapplers are not. Also ATII’s come with a tread depth warranty that the Grapplers don’t have.
I bought mine at American Tires , Discount Tires out side of CA and I purchased their warranty which is National. So I was ok with that.

    Thanks man!!

I've narrowed mine to the Grapplers as well. They look dope. I've always been a KO2 person, so we will see. New tread pattern for me, but seems legit. I'm going to order them this week just to have on hand – the catalyst being I had my spare tire stolen last week, so I have to order a 5th wheel/tire anyway. Might as well buy the full size at the same time.

That sucks about the spare tire being stolen.
I have the factory spare tire lock installed on my truck. Basically they charge the tire crank down assembly and they give you a key you install on the end of the crank rod. I guess it could deter them and maybe move on to an easier target.

Ah that’s even worse. Not knowing when and where it happened.
Let’s just hope the tire dropped on their hand or foot when they stole it.

Ultimately went w/ 275/70r18 in Toyo Open Country A/T. It came down to price and weight -- the only tire I liked in 285 was the Ridge Grappler (and I Really liked it), but for the same price as 4 grapplers, I got 5 tires, plus a black alloy rim. And each tire is pounds lighter.

    Nice truck looks great.
I have a buddy at work running the same tire in a 295 and he really likes it.
I like the rack on the back and how you where able to mount a shovel or I guess other equipment up out of the way. Good idea.
    What’s next for the truck?

I have Rotopax sitting in the garage. A couple sand trax too, so I'll mount those up next. I mostly use the rack for SUPs, but I'm super interested in a Autohome Maggiolina RTT, but not sure if I can justify the price tag, seeing as a tent works fine for now.

I'm on the waiting list for Slee sliders, and when that happens I'll figure out a mount for my hi-man jack.

And lastly, I have a drawer from American Van headed my way (the best I could find to fit with my Retrax Tonneau.

    Nice.
I just checked out the sliders you have on order. They look pretty good. I been researching them myself. Never seen Slee brand. Did you look at others and what made you buy the Slees? I’m only asking because I been trying to compare multiple ones and asking around.
I was thinking about getting a cab high rack and tent to mount on top of that. Then I could use the rack to mount my other crap. I want to pick up some MAXTRAX boards, and possible a higher lift Jack as well.
This form makes us all want, want, want.
