Yup, knees are shot! Any recommendations for a good rear bumper fold up step?
    Thanks!

Amp research makes one. Seems to be the one most use

You mean a bedstep? Or do you mean a tailgate ladder?

This one. double check fitment, as it does vary depending on year and the type of bumper you have - steel vs resin.

And do a search on the forum for install instructions. You don't want to remove the factory bracket and replace with the kit bracket like I did (like the instructions say). just cut the bracket in place, seal the cuts and finish up. it will make a 4 hour job a 40 minute job.

I have the AMP BedStep on my 2015 DC and loved it. I have bad knees and one replacement. I am looking at putting one on my 2021. I found out that Toyota makes an OEM bedstep, so I may look at this one for my truck.

It was one great mod that used quite often.

I have a 2021 as well and was looking into this myself. As for the Toyota one, I think that it’s actually rebranded amp research but could be wrong. That being said, I contacted amp research last week and talked to an “installer tech” on the phon and he said that they are “ confirming “ it to work on a ‘21 but have not does so. He said that keep checking back on the website or calling. He thought that by the first of the year it would be updated but could lock down a time frame for sure. I was ready to buy one but had me thinking that maybe just maybe that there was something different bolt pattern. I got off the phone thinking that it makes sense but then was think,....l it’s the same as any other 3rd gen right?!?!. Maybe but don’t know. Curious of what Toyota says will work for a ‘21

Yeah, for those going with the AMP bedstep, be careful on which model number you choose. There have been threads on people getting confused on why theirs retracts so crooked. I believe it has something to do with the fact that the bumper reinforcement frame was either resin or steel. Don't quote me on that but just wanted to make sure you keep that in mind if you think all 2014+ models would fit.

Edit: Found the thread that links what I am referring to (thanks to @Boerseun):

It should fit, but don't quote me. When I spoke with the dealership about the OEM step, they said it would fit my 2021. So......

As for the OEM and AMP, I believe they make those OEM products for Toyota. I cannot confirm, but they look so similar. I am probably going to wait until the new year for this step. I currently have my one stepper that I picked up at Harbor Freight in my bed for now. Just using what I have for now. But, I will definitely installing this item for sure!

I have the amp research bed step on my F150. Works great and I can use with the tailgate open or closed as it pops out beneath and to the side of the corner rear bumper.

I have a hitch step that stays in all the time unless I'm towing. It also deters rear end collisions.

    Link.

I know this isn't exactly what you were asking for, but it is another option. I bought a locking hitch pin from harbor freight. I think it was $15. Deters thieves.

Edit: spelling. Damn auto correct :annoyed:

Thank you all for your help! The AMP seems to be the best product. I have purchased from Real Truck in the past and their pricing seems the best on this.

I wish you all a joyful Holiday Season!!!!
