I had an issue a few times last summer where after leaving my 2018 outside with a sunshade up, after starting it up I'd get the message "Front Camera Not Available" and the PCS Off icons would light up. After the camera cooled down for a few minutes, things look fine again. With the warm weather back, it just happened to me again the last two days.

For those in warmer climates (Phoenix area here), have you run into this issue? I'm wondering if I just need to get a sun shade with a cutout around the mirror and front camera module for the PCS, or if I have a bigger issue and need to get the dealer to check it out.

I just had the exact same problem this morning, but for the other end of the spectrum. I got the front camera not available and "PCS Off" icon this morning (I'm guessing) because of the cold weather. I'll be curious to see if it's back on this afternoon.

There was no frost on the front emblem, just a bit on the hood/windshield. I'm having a hard time figuring out why the camera was unavailable...

Did you have frost in front of the rear view mirror/camera area? I’d make a guess that if the camera doesn’t have visibility, it will error out. Maybe some others in cold weather regions have run into that?

I thought Tundra's only had a rear-view camera? Or do you mean the radar sensor in the front (that's what PCS uses, as well as the adaptive cruise control)?

I know that lots of morning dew (or snow/ice buildup) on that sensor will cause the pcs system to go offline.

There’s another piece of the PCS system, a front facing camera on the right side of the rear view mirror. It’s only for the Toyota Safety Sense, not anything you can use for fun things.

Ahhh, that was probably the problem then. I started driving with the top 1/3 of my windshield still having a bit of frost on it. Didn't realize it had a camera there.

OK, probably the Lane Departure Alert uses that camera too. I keep LDA disabled (the thing goes off all the time on the narrow roads around town).

I have had my sensor say unavailable, both with and without a "camera is dirty" warning. Most times, it is when there is dew/frost on the truck, or rain from the road. I asked the dealer about this and was told it was "normal". In the two months I've had my truck, the light has probably come on a dozen or more times.

Revival. Have this issue every morning now that cold temps have set in. Even when there is no frost left. Does begin working after while.
