That was one of the first things done to my truck and it is awesome. One of the best things you can do especially up here in the PNW. I use it in the summer and winter to get the truck comfortable in any weather.

I installed the kit from Tech12Volts + CarLink over the summer. Really regret not doing it sooner!

Do these remote starts unlock and leave the truck running until key is in the ignition? Then turn the key and it’s good

My truck stays locked. You walk up unlock, turn the key in the ignition to on and off you go. If you hit the brake before the key is in it shuts itself off.

Palm tree which remote do you have then? From what I have read factory one shuts off when you unlock.

Pretty sure they all do, unless you have push button start - then it'll shut off when you open the door.

    yes
only the OEM Toyota ones (we have an OEM one on our Sienna) shut off when you unlock
My Tundra has an aftermarket remote start that does not shut off when you unlock

Thats what I was thinking. I would think the truck would want to restart with the key in the cabin to prevent funny business but I have done no research on the topic .

Does your Sienna have push button start or does it have a real key?

Not much funny business can happen, if the brake is depressed prior to the key being inserted and turned to the "ON" position, it'll shut off. The truck can not be shifted into gear without the key in place.

My original question for the OP still stands though, as the 2020s, and 2021s come with a stock remote starter. I'm curious why they felt the need to get an aftermarket one.

The funny business I'm referring to is specific to push button model. If the truck is on in that case there is no key to insert, so if someone got the door open while it was on they would be off unless I'm wrong which I could be.

I'm sure they could make it so you have to tap the push button, and as long as it detects your key fob is in the cabin you can drive off, but that would make too much sense.

No, my remote start locks the doors, then starts the engine, then, when you come out to your truck, push ulock button and get in, and turn the key over to the run position, and then drive away...

Wild, I thought they all at least come with push button start as of 2020.

What trim is yours? A lot of people have it, and don't even realize it. It's not mentioned in the manual that I'm aware of.

I have a 2021 TSS key ( no push start ) and it didn’t come with one either. I’m fine with it as if I need 1, I will buy one also get the immobilizer bypass and good to go.
