Has anybody ever used these? Looks pretty nifty. I have way to much blind spot without a convex mirror. I going to run over someone.

I've never seen them before but they do present a new solution to an old problem. I don't think they would be a great alternative to extendable tow mirrors, however, I can see that they would enhance the visibility of the OE sport mirrors.

Guess I will order one for driver side and give it a try. The only thing I miss about my F250 were the mirrors. They were incredible but the entire time I owned the vehicle i never extended them even while towing.

@FirstTruck JUST posted this morning in the "What have you done to your 3rd Gen" thread about the ones linked at spottermirror. I just pulled the trigger on a set - I had full size tow mirrors on my 2008, but rarely actually tow. I miss the fish-eye though, so these should be perfect.

They’re great, definitely helped increase my sight lines. I had them on my Tacoma previously.

I received and installed the mirror. Holy hell how I didn't break the mirror housing, gouge the mirror or mirror housing is beyond me. I had taped my plastic pry tool used carboard. I have no idea how I didn't break something. Good news I didn't break anything. New one installed. Initial impression are very good, definitely improvement. Report back after I drive a couple days. Again incredible force was used to unsnap the old one, incredible force to unhook one of the wires. I weigh 185 lbs.

Mine arrived yesterday and I installed this morning. I managed to fuck up my passenger original one - not popping it loose but getting the heater leads unhooked. The one felt like it was crimped on, and in pulling on it I cracked the glass. I also noticed my driver side OEM glass had two metal tabs on the back that I could not find a place on the new mirror to put them - not sure what they are for but hopefully it's not an issue. :notsure:

Like you, I'll have to see how I like them after a few days of driving. Initial impressions are good.

I believe the two metal tabs are to prevent the mirror from vibrating when going down road. My new one didn't have them either. That being said the new one doesn't vibrate, the little one does a tiny bit but don't see how it couldn't. I had same problem with one of the tabs, in a rare moment i realized to squeeze base of tab so as not to pull tab off. The design is the same as the Dodge 2500's with convex mirror vertical vs horizontal like the F250's.

On my new one the mirror will pop off its mount pretty easy. The new mirror mount stays on the OEM mount. If it becomes an issue I can just super glue it. As of now seams to be fine, Tundra rides so smooth there never any jarring bumps to knock if off, lol

I noticed this too when I thought about trying to pop off the mirror to check for a place to put the metal tabs. I'll have to watch it as well...and glue or epoxy if needed.

So I have driven with the new driver side mirror a couple days. It does its job, I have the convex adjusted so its impossible for a car not to be in one of the two mirrors at any time. That said its different than the old circle convex mirrors I used in the past (just stuck on) where I could see everything in just the convex mirror (very small). I will give it a 7.5. I wish the convex mirror would have been placed horizontal along the bottom of the mirror, I feel it would have been more functional. At times when you push on the convex mirror to adjust you move the whole mirror, again once you get it adjusted you should be good. I think the aftermarket mirrors would be more functional but I don't want the mirrors sticking out that far so this makes for a happy medium.

One day in, and I feel pretty similarly. I'm trying to find the "sweet spot" for how to angle the convex mirror - when I had the full-size tow mirrors, I kept the plain mirror where I had to lean toward the mirror a little to see the side of the truck, and then the convex gave me a sweeping panorama of basically two-3 lanes to either side. With these, it's a different setup and I'm trying to find that spot where I get a good mix.

If you are needing/wanting the extend feature to see past a big trailer, keep the two mirrors. If you are wanting a slimmer profile but still want the convex, you could give these a try. I'm sure you won't have trouble selling your take-off tow mirrors.

Truth be told we should all have the BLIS or at least an option for it that doesn't cost $2K package upgrade. How a limited model doesn't come with BLIS and programable seats and called a limited is a little beyond me, LOL.

The BLIS and other safety features were actually high up on my requirements for when/if I got a truck. Wasn't even interested in models that did not include it. Seems ludicrous to reject a safety device that could potentially save you and your family from bad drivers (or yourself being dumb/the bad driver). Most of the options can be disabled and all of them may one day help that one time we take a short cut. A good investment in my opinion.

I removed the mirror. It worked but not as well IMO then the 3" round mirrors for $6.99. The round mirrors give full visibility where any other geometry gives you a partial view. You can adjust the mirror so as the object moves out of one mirror it goes into the other but why not just get the circle mirror and see everything in one mirror. So that how it ended.

I agree, I've had them since August and they just don't seem as effective as I would have originally thought, which a horizontal convex mirror would go a long way in solving (their Tacoma mirror has a horizontal one). I find if I use them as a blind spot mirror, it's a little too narrow (particularly at night) and if I use them as a reverse parking guide, then I have blind spots.

Help. I removed mine and I noticed the orientation of the tabs are different from the aftermarket ones (OEM=top and bottom vs. Aftermarket = side by side). Does it matter where the wiring attaches to?

I don’t think so - I didn’t pay any attention on mine when I plugged them back in. It’s just a big resistor basically. I got a chance to use the heaters this morning and they worked just fine.

It does seem like an extra piece came off with your OEM mirror though - doesn’t that circle piece belong on the adjuster inside the mirror housing?

I am notsure. I only pulled one side, got confused and stopped to ask questions to make sure. I’ll pull the other side and compare. Then I’ll see if I can pull that little part off. Thanks!!
