I bit the bullet and bought a pedal commander a few weeks. A lot of people on here talk about how responsive it make the truck in city and sport mode but not much about eco mode.... So I thought I would test it out
My son and I drove down to Tennessee to lake Chickamauga from Louisville to fish. I put the PC in eco mode, no plus or minus. I was pulling our Bass Tracker 175 which with gas and our gear probably tips the scales at 2300 or 2400 pounds. I ended up averaging 15.7 on the 250 mile, 4 .5 hour journey. Pretty good if you ask me.

Haven't tried eco mode yet but 15.7 sounds good. How did it drive in eco?

Not gonna lie. Its pretty sluggish. But you get used to it after a bit. I think on longer trips its worth the trade off.

Did you ever check your trucks mileage with the same load before the pedal commander?

Surprisingly ECO +4 isn't too bad and I hated ECO -4 thru 0. ECO +4 is pretty smooth and you don't have to bury your foot into the floorboard to accelerate. I actually noticed a small bump on MPGs on a few short (under 50 miles) trips recently (in ECO +4); I'm curious to see if this trend endures.

Yes and I got around 12.5. So a decent improvement.

Just eco mode on PC and no tow/haul mode.

I should note that the trip was mainly on 2 lane country roads. I used Google maps as I'd never been there before.

I bought a pedal commander for my 2021. At first very impressed but overtime felt myself thinking how to accelerate so as not to be jerky. Only setting that wasn't jumpy or constant downshifting was City (-4). I like the engine working, don't want to feather the pedal. So i only used when hauling an ATV or pulling a jet ski since tow haul mode was too aggressive. Nifty toy but expensive at 249 plus tax. In my opinion fuel economy has to suffer with the pedal commander except on economy mode which is miserable to drive in, borderline unsafe due to sluggish. In the end just like everything else you adapt to what you have and the 'shock value" goes away. I suggest stick with factory and just give it more gas when required. Again if under $150 sure nice toy but very pricey at $249.00

Did you experiment with all the settings including Sport? Some settings are more jumpy than others and going up the line isn't completely linear. I run mine at Sport+2 and its not jumpy at all.

I had the jumpiness issue as well on some of the more aggressive settings. Sport -4 was about as high as I could tolerate; I've been driving with Sport -4 since I installed the PC and my MPGs actually went up before switching to ECO mode recently. It definitely requires a light touch to use it in the higher modes. ECO 0 and lower was too dangerous for me to sustain in the driving conditions I deal with.

I usually drive in city (-4). Roads around me suck so when the truck starts bouncing at times i accidentally push the gas, lol. I did find a used one on offer up for $130 I seam to like it a lot better at that price....

I've been contemplating getting this thing. I've had it sitting in my shopping cart on Amazon for a few weeks now trying to decide if I wanna pull the trigger on it. The consensus seems mixed on it.

BFH50 for $50 off or see if Amazon discounts it more on Cyber Monday.
It depends what you want the PC for. It wakes the truck up for sure I'm not totally convinced it can save up to +20% MPG. The main gripe I've seen is the surging issue triggering limp mode.

I just picked one up a couple weeks ago, I was tired of the stock throttle mapping on my 2014. A little sluggish..I guess Toyota does this for comfort and fuel economy reasons. Don't blame them one bit.
Having driven old school throttle cable/carb setups back in the day, I truly miss the instant throttle response of yesteryear. So I bought a PD my sweet spot is city+4 (setting #16 out of 32) in my opinion this is the closest to a 1:1 setup up. This is how the truck should of come off the factory.
The driving experience is so much better, to me it feels like there is a cable with no slack connected to my throttle body. I really don't give a sh#t about fuel economy, it's a truck not a Prius besides it's all depends on your right foot.

Edit: I should note that I do a lot of towing in the summer and I will make sure that I have the PD off and Tow Haul mode on for obvious reasons.

We have many customers that love the Pedal Commander. And a lot of big names back it.

Hey Keith... Do you see any downside to using eco mode? Any potential long term side effects? @dirtydeeds
