So I was backing out of the garage and caught my mirror... Need to fold them in I guess from now on. It's pretty tight.

Wondering if this is an easy fix? It looks like you can just order replacement glass inserts. But I am wondering if I need to maybe get that backing plate as well because I think the plastic tabs broke off.

I saw Doorman makes one. Or would it be better to get OEM? The glass is shattered but still one piece. (the picture doesn't look as bad but its cracked badly)

Anyone do anything stupid like this before? haha

Sidenote... Anyone have access to repair manuals/diagrams for our Tundras? Would be very helpful.

It would probably be cheaper to just replace the unit since the tabs are snapped off. It happens. If I didn’t have power folding mirrors, would be on my 5th set by now.

I think I need the mirror and the inside part of the mirror on the right... You may be right may need to get the whole thing... Hopefully you can buy that piece on the right separately.

I had someone smash my 2012 CM mirror twice. First time I upgraded to tow mirrors, and the second time the glass was just replaced. If I remember correctly, glass alone was 91.00.

It happens...I just did a quick check on ebay.com and there are plenty of cheap used ,complete , units that appear in good condition.Might be less hassle, in the long run, than fiddly repairs?

Same thing happen to my brothers Lexus and we dabbed a bit of JB Weld on each broken tab to buy some time until he purchased a new replacement. It has been three years now and he still hasn't purchased a replacement.

Aesthetically and functionally you would never know that it had ever been broken.

Some of us still have the OEM little mirrors in our sheds, Find someone close and see if they will donate a mirror, or just buy one.

I replaced my factory mirrors. Would be willing to donate the glass. You may still need the plastic casing that broke, but you’d be half way there.

Appreciate the replies guys. I just ended up buying a replacement from the parts store here. Was $130 taxes included. I thought that wasn't too bad. It looks the exact same. Should have it put on tomorrow. Tried kijiji but wasn't much locally. The parts guy said you can't order the inside part (blue circle on the right). Not sure if Toyota sells that part but it would probably be $$$$. It's sketchy driving without it. haha

Well, then. Not too practical anyway since shipping would take a chunk out of that $130, and you’d be a hazard on the road in the meantime.

If you’re sneaky when you change the mirror you can remove just the triangular cover panel inside the door and pull the main inner door panel back enough to get a 1/4” drive ratchet on the bottom nut, instead of removing the entire door panel.

hmmm very sneaky indeed. Removing the door panel doesn't look too hard though.

Random question. Anyone drill holes into their bed so the water doesn't pool? Mine pools if its not parked uphill. Kind of thinking it might rust where I drill? It has some sort of linex/rubberized coating in the bed. Not sure if this is factory or aftermarket? Did Toyota offer anything like that? I really liked the plastic bed in my Tacoma.

Don't drill the bed. You have plugs towards the front. Pull one if you really want or drill a hole in the plastic plug.

Yeah, the spray on coating is not oem. Lots of people prefer it to the plastic liner, but it's really personal preference. I like to slide things in and out. I'm a liner person myself. Rubberized coatings can damage the stuff I put in the bed.

Simple enough job. Got it done today. Works and looks good. This is the old light. What is this crap? Old glue or just dirt? Weird.

Where are you in Ontario @ICECOLDBEER ?

There are a bunch on Kijiji right now and it’s an easy swap for a whole new mirror assembly.

edit: I’m late to the reply party :)

I have nothing productive to add to this thread. Only posting to share the pain. This morning, I was backing out of my garage and the side of the garage must have narrowed by at least a foot or so and caught my mirror. Did the same thing as OP’s mirror. I don’t believe it had anything to do with my inattentiveness. It’s all the garage’s fault.

I've only had my Tundra for a month or so, and I've nearly ripped my PS mirror off twice!! At the last second, I seen it was going to hit the door frame so I jumped out and folded it in. Wish I had the motorized folding mirrors option.

-So I'm sure mirrors have been abused a lot on these trucks!
