Ordered 285/75 Duratracs. My grandfather is retired from Goodyear and gets 45% off coupons that he can gift to friends and family all the time.

People seem to either love or hate these tires. For the amount of off-roading I do, they’ll be nice to have. I’m going to rotate them every 3k on the dot. See if that helps with how many miles I can get out of them.

I finally got around to getting under my truck. I jacked up the rear of the truck via the hitch. I nearly got the wheels off the ground when I took this picture. Knowing how delicate these wires are, I was not comfortable going further and installed the wire extension bracket.
    PXL_20201209_181410322.MP.jpg

With the rear sway bar the extension leg needs to be trimmed.
    PXL_20201209_183233150.NIGHT.jpg

I jacked up the truck again but forgot to take that picture. :facepalm:I'm confident that there's an improvement though.

The jack wasn't tall enough to get the tires 100% clear of the floor, but I don't think that was necessary, it was incredibly close. Here's the passenger side where the sway bar just came into contact with the springs.
    PXL_20201209_183536864.jpg

And the driver side where it did not.
    PXL_20201209_183558077.jpg

There could be several reasons for this from some subtle asymmetrical aspect to the chassis/suspension, to the fact that the shop floor was constructed of four separate slabs of concrete all pitched differently to allow for water drainage and the truck was parked straddling the floor drain.

If you do any off roading, these are fantastic tires. They are (IMO) on par with the KO2 on snow and ice, and are better in loose/deep snow and any sort of mud.

Keep them rotated, keep your alignment true and front end tight. They get loud as hell if they wear funny. Great tires, I've burned through a number of sets.

I do! Usually monthly except in the winter. I’ve heard that a lack of rotating will shorten their life significantly. I wish I had an alignment shop I was thrilled about.

There’s one Firestone that has a great tech I know of in town, but they told me they can’t do my alignment because I have the lane alert option on my truck, and they don’t have the software needed for it.

So I went to Toyota. They got me in spec and it feels totally fine..no pulling, drifting, or shaking.

Nice looking pickup, even though white is a faster color.

    @Wynnded

Thought I'd point out that you need to have a washer after the sway bar before the nut goes on. (washer, end link, sway bar, washer & lock nut)

Have you had any rubbing issues and do you know how much height you gained from stock? Thanks

I didn’t think I had any at first, but if I turn with the tires at full lock moving forward or in reverse on uneven ground, I get a little bit.

As far as height, I got 2” from the TRD Fox coilovers and 1.4” from the tires (they are 2.8” taller than stock). My wife and kids are all over me to get some steps, but I have been putting it off for sliders.

sweet ride! I am getting ready to do the exact same thing. I have the Bilstein 5100 on middle setting. Ride is okay but not so much over New England potholes. Any buyers remore? Hows the ride now compared to the old Bilsteins?

Yeah the ride with the Fox Pro’s from the 5100 will be night and day, you will not be disappointed I think it’s worth every penny for upgrade. I recently put the Westport design preload collar on mine as well, I have to say it made the trucks stance look amazing. I’ll try and post a pic in the next couple days.... But no you won’t regret the upgrade to the Fox, it’s as smooth as butter

No they are not needed, the Westcott kit was designed for use with the stock UCA

are you running that lift and the Duratracs without any mods to compensate for rubbing, or did you have to get creative?

Yeah just running the Fox Pro suspension with the westcott preload kit with no rubbing. Before the Westcott with just the Pro suspension I had minor rubbing on the front inside fender that’s with the little mud spat removed. I also bent the skid plate up out of the way so it wouldn’t hit there.

Are the OEM TDR Fox shocks rebuildable? I believe, I read that they are not. If so, spending less money for some rebuildable proven King shocks. Even Fox race line of shocks in the 2.5’s under $3k. Of course without the DSC or Comp adjusters on the Kings.

Thanks! In that pic, I’m sitting at +3/4” in the rear with an empty bed just from putting the TRD Fox shocks on. I have since added CB +2 for another 1.25”. I’m pretty much at factory rake now with an empty bed.

    Howdy,
I'm getting ready to install the Fox TRD Pro rear shocks on my Tundra this weekend. Will I really get 3/4" worth of lift? If so, maybe I don't need the 1" shackles I bought. I can't see how shocks will lift the rear.

Every shock exerts forces up on the frame mount and down on the lower axle mount. The TRD Fox is a much bigger longer shock. Of course it wouldn’t hold up the bed by itself, but it is helping the rear springs enough to make a bit of a difference when the bed is empty.

Measure before and after. I’m curious if yours makes a bit of a difference too. Mine went from 23.75” to 24.5”. I gave it a week to settle.
