So i have had a clunk when i put my truck in drive for a while. Getting worse all the time. At first we thought it was the ujoints as it’s a very familiar noise. Determined this was not the cause. Then we thought it was the rear diff but again found it was not the cause. We have isolated this clunk to the rear drive shaft slip yoke. This is troubling since there is no grease nipple to grease this. We took the cover off and sure enough you can see the wear. Put some grease on the splines and the sound is muffled but certainly still there. Anyone else have this issue or know of a fix besides a new rear drive shaft? This is the 4th tundra I have owned and have never had any issues. All of my trucks have had over 300k with no issues.

Do you have a lift ? I developed the same noise after I installed Dobinsons leaf in the rear. It lifted the truck about 2"(bed is always loaded with about 250lbs of tools. I wanted to be sure that is really coming from the shaft first. At first I greased the hell out of the yoke and the noise went away but created another issue. The grease started to pile together and I developed a small vibration when I was driving over 60 mph. I could not believe that a little extra grease can can trow a shaft that big out of balance. Then I clean everything, applied less grease and I loaded the truck with about 800 lbs so the suspension squats to original heights. The noise was gone instantly.
I removed the overload spring and and the rear dropped by about 1" and installed a spacer on the on the carrier. No more noise. So far.

    Good luck with your issue.
