    I have a SnoWay 26R plow and have put it on 3 successive Tundras. It has halogen lights and when plugged into the LED lights on my 2021 TRD sport it throws a code on the dash saying headlight malfunction - see service dealer. Question - Will this damage the wiring harness or other components or is it just telling me that there's a heavier load on the wiring harness than normal? I'm searching for retro LED headlight kits from Snoway to remove the problem.

    Get a couple relays, use the factory wiring as the triggers, and you'll be set to go.

    Thanks for the prompt reply. I'm not quite sure I follow your advice. Are the relays installed in line with the plow harness before touching the trucks factory wiring? Or under the hood from the factory wiring harness to plow?

    I'm not endorsing this harness just using it for an example. You'd need 2, preferably matching whatever headlight connector is on the truck already since I'm guessing running it from one light wouldn't make the truck happy.

    You'd take the male connector of each, plug it into the existing headlight harness

    Run the power/ground wires to the battery.

    Cut off the female headlight connectors (or leave them if they match the plow harness connectors) and splice them into the truck side of the plow harness.

    That will take the load off of the factory wiring and run it from the battery to the relays out to the plow lighting using just the factory headlight wiring to activate the relays. This would require you to unplug/replug the factory headlights when you took the plow off.

    Snoway themselves do not have an adapter yet for the LED headlight trucks, you could do it leaving everything plugged in but it requires more wiring, basically doubling up connectors running factory and plow lighting through relays and adding a switch to activate the plow lighting. Not impossible but could be frustrating if you aren't good with relay wiring

    @mountainpete :rofl:

    Mr. Plow here:hattip:

    I don’t have much input on plow lighting as mine is low enough (truck lift) I utilize headlights without issue.

    @mvt1542 i suggest swapping to led bulbs on your plow :transformer:

    I can't speak to the plow wiring, but from researching the wiring on these LED headlights back in 2017 I can add this tidbit. There's a " status" wire in the factory 8 pin plug that monitors the headlight operation. If the headlight switch is on, but the oem headlight isn't on that's what's giving the error code

    Interesting.

    Other option would be to run the relay harness and use a 3 way switch to activate the plow high/low and only tap into the parking lights.

    So you'd use the factory headlight switch to turn on the parking lights and an auxillary switch to turn on the plow headlights.

    so the code may be all about the OEM headlights not being on and not due to an increased load on the harness at all. Thanks - will continue working the problem
