Thanks. I'm in the middle of pulling my old floors myself. Will have to search for something that looks comparable, really love the look of old wide plank.

Skip any wood products, and go to a luxury vinyl plank! I just had it put in my basement at the beginning of the year and had an older cat that was having a lot of accidents, and you can clean it quite aggressively without much repercussions. you can use "Natures Miracle" on it, but for most cleaning I use PH Neutral Zep floor concentrate found at Lowes. Anyway, unlike wood, you can mop it! You CANNOT use a steamer on it or other heated cleaning devices, and the recommendation is not using any acidic cleaners. It seems to be the most pet friendly flooring out there! If the whole house wasn't already hardwood, which was put in by the previous owner, I would have put it in everywhere!!

I used my Corona 16-ft Fiberglass Pass-thru Pole Pruner to remove some large limbs from the White Oak nearest my patio... I had to climb a ladder to reach two of the limbs.038313067809.jpg

This counts as home improvement right? Made a wood/ metal flag to hang on the wall in the media room and got rid of that fugly picture that used to be there.

Better than the trash bag anyway. Now for the mudding. I hate drywall. Bought a 1/2 piece to put in, turns out it's 3/8, found a piece in the attic but there's apparently 2 layers of wallpaper? over it.

Started my front gate project. We ordered Ghost Controls dual gate openers to keep people off our property.

New 6x6x10’ posts installed, old gates and hardware installed.

Now I’m hauling crushed concrete to bring the driveway up a couple of feet.

No, unfortunately much of this is beyond my experience. I try to do as much as I can. Three weeks in and we've already had rounds from electrician, plumber, ac guy and drywaller. We are using a family friend who is a contractor and he subs some of the specialties out to crews that he works with all the time.

Since we now added on replacing the windows, interior doors, interior and exterior paint we probably won't be all done until sometime in January. Can't wait until we get to the master bathroom, should be a massive improvement. Not a very big space, but some drastic changes from current.

Finished up the backsplash this past weekend. Also decided to add a different light fixture where we had a recessed can over the sink. Glad to be done, for now...

    just an observation
it appears you forgot a 'Very Important Safety' aspect of your remodel.

there are a few areas that need fire blocking at your drop ceilings.
if fire gets inside your walls.... Boom.. now its in your attic & your insurance won't cover you because your renovation did not meet minimum building code or get a building inspection.

might want to fix that while you still got time & things 1/2 way open..

Finally finished my deck stairs last night. I was waiting on a few pieces from TimberTech since August. I wrapped it all up with wiring and installing the low voltage lighting. The rest of the pictures were from building the landing this summer:

Thanks. The kitchen’s a mess...but that’s proof we use it. The sink is an Elkay, single basin, but I specifically bought it because the drain is offset to one side (back right corner). That keeps the garbage disposal tucked away on the one side, and then the instant hot tank is tucked away on the opposite side and most of the rest of the space under the cabinet is still useable.

The back of the faucet JUST clears the window sill by about 1/4” - I’d love to say I planned it, but just got lucky there.

The downdraft with the gas cooktop, however, is very carefully planned. I have a 26” deep cabinet, and the blower for the downdraft is actually mounted in the basement, so I have full standard-depth pull-out shelves (21” deep as used in a 24” standard cabinet) under the cooktop for pots and pans. It was a major issue with our prior setup because the blower for the downdraft used up more than half the useable space under the cooktop and was a waste. So this time we found one that raises 18” above the countertop (for better air movement) and is ducted straight out the bottom to the blower.

Nothing big here. Climbed around the house and pulled pecan shit and leaves out of the gutters (they somehow drop dirt...) and I needed to replace a lightbulb in one of the post lights my dad and I put in years ago. Lowes no longer carried it so I upgraded all of them to LEDs. A lot brighter than the old ones but I like how they light the yard up. Also keeps the Pecan Poachers away.

Thanks - she's a good house too. People added on to it throughout the years (we think the original part was done in the late 1800's) and the house just about fills up the lot. We got really lucky when we found it.
