While on the topic of blinding other drivers, I always hear about blinding oncoming cars, I want to say its not the oncoming traffic that I worry about. Its the poor bastard who you get behind, especially that poor bastard in the lowered hatch back. No matter how I set up my mirrors all it takes is a truck behind me to go a little left or a little right and I am getting blinded.

Oncoming traffic can easily look away from a temporary flash, the poor bastard stuck just ahead of you can't. I used my lowered hatchback to adjust my truck lighting so that the cutoff falls short of the door mirrors.

I feel bad when I pull up to those poor little cars at night and my lights go straight though their windshield :) Usually I'll turn my lights off while sitting.

I was at a Wendy's drive through in front of an old ford diesel and they guy was sitting pretty far behind me, took me a minute to realize he was being polite so I could place my order without diesel noise drowning me out.

With properly setup headlights you should be able to drive behind any car of any height without blinding them provided you can give them a bit of space and the road is flat.

@rock climber thats the right thing to do. I do that pretty often when I'm in a drive thru in my truck or in my Element (which is stock but still blinds people somehow).

:amen: but at least where I live way too many bro-mobile trucks are lifted a foot and run high output lights with no regards for me in my little GTI. Unfortunately not everybody is considerate and they just want cool guy lights without doing it right. Same guys who roll on the busy freeway with light bars turned on.

Had a nice long night drive about 2 months ago which was mostly highway. Was taking it slow in the right lane due to towing and took the time to observe everyones headlights as they passed by. I observed 18 wheelers, passenger cars, work vans, etc. Basically observed how their light filled the front area around the vehicles.

What I noticed was most peoples lights don’t project much past the front of the vehicle. Their lights serve basically as beacons to be seen and not so they can see. The worst of these seemed to be 18 wheelers.

I could really compare their lighting compared to mine as they passed by on the 5 lane highway in complete darkness (no street or ambient city light). Hands down my lighting was best. Still haven’t been flashed. And like mentioned above, I tested my projection on the wall per FSM and then sitting in the Little Hand Model Mobile. Made sure the FSM was proper and then checked it against the side view mirrors on the low car. Passed with flying colors just below the assy when 5 feet off the bumper spacing.

Someone who uses social media, please tap me when that goes live. I'm turning into a hermit with Luddite tendencies. This last election cycle made me throw all my social media accounts in the garbage.

Anyone have a picture of what the OEM LED's look like against a flat surface? I have the GTR Ultra LED bulbs in the stock housings. They made a huge, huge difference in my ability to see at night. They weren't cheap... about $250 for the set from headlight revolution last year. I did my fog lights with Ultra's too. I am somewhat concerned blinding oncoming traffic so I typically use setting "3" on the headlight adjustment which is just over 3' high at 25'. I originally set the beam at 4' high at 25' out on the "0" setting but I would occasionally get brighted.

Well you Tundra guys have something extra special to look forward to, but I'll leave that to the imagination. Call it a wee little bonus if you will.;)

Was just in the local Burger King drive thru earlier on way to work and there was a Nissan 300Z in front of me. My Ford is not quite as tall as my DC and my low beams were about 5 inches above the top of his door mirrors. Granted, his car was lowered a few inches but still. I killed my lights until he left the drive thru. Then, I got behind a RAM Dually Bro-Dozer with about a 8 inch lift, 67" tires, and he had yellow LEDs behind the wheels. LOL. If I had been in front of him, his lights would be in my eyes while sitting in my truck. Like Darkness said, not everybody is considerate and some don't give a damn how their light affects others.

Thought I'd post this here. I had a friend grab the morimoto led 3.0 for her Chevy trax. It has factory projectors with halogen bulbs. Installed the led's last night and the output is significantly brighter and bean patter is exactly the same. The biggest reason I recommended these to her was the fan blowing the heat into the headlight so hopefully it will melt the snow, haven't been able to test that yet.

I did an HID retrofit on the sequoia and will do that same on the tundra, but for those not wanting to do an HID retrofit, these seem like a solid albeit expensive option.
