Hello, the door sticker on my 2019 Tundra Platinum Crewmax 4x4 says maximum payload is 1172 pounds, then another sticker says that amount was reduced by 91 pounds for the step rails. I thought the Tundra in this configuration had closer to 1500 pounds before modifications. Any thoughts?

Hell, I exceed the rating every time I load up to go do things ... with a Decked unit full of stuff, and a ~375lb shell, and then more gear, I'm always over their 'limit', even with air bags. The rating is silly ... I wouldn't worry about it too much unless you're wheeling it hard with a heavy load.

Just do what most owners do and ignore the sticker.

It's a harsh reality to think that a 2010 Dodge Caravan has more payload than the majority of half ton trucks manufactured in the last 10 years.

The higher trim levels will have less payload because of all the accessories and add one. My 2014 crew max Sr5 door sticker says 1360 for payload.

The nicer and more SUV-like your truck is, the less truck-like the payload specs will be, pretty simple. I like to chime in and chirp because I have almost 2000 pounds of payload, but I dont have a backseat, I have a shitty stereo, I have a hard plastic armrest in the middle, non-adjustable seats etc. Its all a trade off...TANSTAAFL

I just purchased a 2021 SR DC. I wanted the reliability the Toyota affords with as much payload as I could get and still have 4x4 and a rudimentary back seat. The SR is by any account somewhat spartan but, it does everything we need it to do with a payload of 1435lbs (99 lbs subtracted for aluminum step bars and spray in bed liner). It has more than enough towing capacity for our 21' TT at 3775 empty weight and 420 hitch weight. $39k OTD price... Couldn't be happier.

What are you hauling? For example....if you don't plan to haul anything over 1,200 pounds...does it even matter?

Yes. The way it’s done it’s lite and efficient... Very easy to setup and no heavy articulating metal mechanisms

Thank you all very much for the comments and feedback. I found the payload data on page 597 of my Owners Manual. The payload capacity is organized by body type, model code, engine, drive system and bed type. So for my 2019 Crewmax, Model Code USK56L-PSTSKA, 5.7L 3UR-FE, 4x4, short bed the payload capacity a range of 1400 to 1185 pounds. My truck has a 36 gallon fuel tank and sunroof so my payload is 1185 pounds.

I was planning on adding a truck camper or camper top. My payload is too low to add a manufactured truck camper; I would have to build it myself as light as possible.
