I’m not close to our lift in my dads garage to take the wheel off and look around. I’ve been searching and not found much on the 2016. Is there a special tool required to get the pads out. I watched a video on a 2012 where he used a c-clamp to compress the piston instead of using the specialty tool.

    Thanks in advance.

I did the brakes on my 2016 a while back, I used a c clamp to compress the pistons back in and there was nothing special compared to the other Toyota's I've done brakes on. Only thing is the 2016+ Brake caliper bolts changed vs the 2007-2015.

Thank you! How about the rotors. Anything out of the norm with removing the rotors? My dad was questioning if you had to do anything with the bearings etc?

Nope mine just slid off, should come off unless it’s rusted to the hub.

Thank you! Seems like it a no brainer to do myself. Most shops in my area want 440-500 per axle.

You’ll probably want a mallet to knock the rotors off depending on how long they have been on and rusty they are. For the caliper, I just loosened the bleed screw and used a long flathead screwdriver to push them in.
