TRD replica wheels?

Aren't those just standard ORP wheels with the caps?

 

I'm guessing they are standard $200 aluminum rims, which is on the cheaper end of a rim

I talked to the seller, he said they are made at the “same factory” slightly off spec and not branded Toyota.

 

A little more then off spec. Zoom in on them, they look like crap

known reputable company Flow forged.perfect finish etc . Good reviews. Also the width and offset is a little wider than Factory toyota.

 

The factory sport wheels come up for sale on here frequently. If you don't like the brushed aluminum finish, you can paint or powdercoat. I powdercoated a previous set and they came out to my liking with a matte finish.

Agreed! I found a set of take-offs, and expect them back from the powder coater this week.

My factory tires are about to hit 45k and I can’t wait to have to buy tires and throw my new rims on.

Wow these look awesome! I work with a powdercoat shop for my online business. Do you have to grind off the finish of the original wheels for the powder to stick?

looks like he’s blasting them all over. Who the hell wants bootleg rims. Especially for that price. BTW they look like huge piles of chineseium. Like somebody says you can already see the finish flaking. Might as well just buy the TVD vinyl overlays.

You can get the TRD OR wheels for cheaper than the bootleg ones. Probably around 600.00 used. Probably get the rims and powder coat for around 800.00. Which is slightly over the bootleg price, if that’s the route you want to go.

 

Thanks man. I stumbled across those replica wheels thinking they were originals, they were one of the first hits on google for TRD rims! Outrageous.

I’d get real ones if I went that way. But the powdercoated factory wheels is certainly an option. I haven’t had a truck in 20 years until 2 weeks ago...so I’m learning a lot real fast. I hadn’t seen much on replica wheels so I figured I’d ask. I realize it may be a touchy subject.

Normally, any existing finish is sandblasted off, so that the powdercoat has an ideal metal surface to adhere to.

Another option would be to paint the wheels. You could lightly sand the original finish, then prime and paint.

 

They look good, i wonder if you get the caps for that price? i might buy them as well ,as a winter option. OEM toyota wheels cost a fortune.

Just look for used ones on Facebook, pop up frequently. I found some real TRD Pro wheels with Nitto Terra Grapplers (with a used but acceptable tread life) for 900.
