Looks great! Were the lights a simple bolt on, or did you have to modify anything? What were the part numbers? Thanks for the updates!

We have a Sequoia that my wife drives also so she didn't want to lift it. I did upgrade to bilstein 5100 shocks because the old ones were bad. I put the front on lowest setting with only .8" lift. I fit a 295/55/20 Toyo open country RT tires with no trimming. It seems to have good clearance so you should be able to fit a 33" with little to no mods.

    @OVTune

so this was surprising! ~ 110 miles road trip, almost all freeway, A/C on and i don't drive slow, and still managed BD computed 15MPG!

never in my time of ownership of this vehicle has it been this high!

this is running OVTune base tune.

    just WOW!

This still going to be the whole grill comes up with the hood, or is it going to be split like the 3rd gen Tundras?

Yes! Too bad the black grill is back ordered, but MGM still blended well with the black truck. I just have to plastic weld the washer bracket and cut out the trim cover later when I get to Canada.

Does the BD allow you to correct for tire size, is it correct?

Is it easy to switch from 87 to 91?

Different mpg from 87 to 91?

I am only using the BD for gauges, i am running the OVtune from now on! switching tunes in the BD wasn't hard, just needed a good battery charger to keep the voltage above the minimum threshold and patience.

i can't recall if there is a tire size adjustment, but with my 35's, it is spot on to GPS and also those radar signs that flash your speed back at you. never off by more than 1MPH. Seems this was also the case when i had smaller tires on as well, but it's not something i worry about i guess.

i drive fast, i get shit gas mileage! lol

this trip was a rare exception

Hello I live in San Diego county as well. I just picked up a Sequoia TRD pro. I installed some 1 inch spacers which im over. I am about to pull the trigger on some Icon coilovers with reservoirs to get the 3 inch lift and dump my TRD Pro fox shocks. I have a couple questions for you. Do you think I have to get upper control arms? Im buying the ones designed for second gen Tundra. Also i was thinking about getting the Dobinson 1.75 rear coil springs do you think i can keep my TRD pro rear shocks? To get your fender flares which Tundra year did you select they look great did you have to drill holes? Last question do you think i could fit 35s if i do all this? I ordered 295/7018 BFG KO2s but they are backordered with not ETA.

Welcome to the Sequoia Build Group and congrats in the Pro Purchase!

There's a shop in SD "88 rotors" that just added a spacer lift front and back in a pro and installed bigger tires on without upgrading the UCA, but did a body mount chop. They had a You tube video of the upgrades they did. https://youtu.be/LkMmGR3ajVs

You can get or fab a rear extension for your rear shock top mount "Ready Lift" makes a full spacer lift kit that comes with an extension. You can keep the rear Pro shocks even if you go with Dobinsons. I would not use the front lift though. https://www.readylift.com/3-f-2-r-sst-lift-kit-toyota-sequoia-2008-2018.html

UCA upgrade is going to benefit you. SPC makes a ball joint type and looks close to OEM.

Front suspension components for a 2nd gen Sequoia is similar (spring rates vary) to 2nd and 3rd gen Tundras.

I will select 2nd gen fender flares, but you have to do a lot of extra mods to mount the flares for the rears. Or just get the OEM for the Sequoia and no modifications required, all the mounting points are there waiting to accept the fender flares.

285.75.18 might be a better choice than 35's or you can do 295.70.18. Based on all the reviews I have read, KO2's have some issues with keeping it balanced. I will stay away from them. Cooper Discover AT3 XLT (lighter) and Toyo AT III are the two people seem to recommend based on their experience after KO2's.

thanks for all the help. The 88rotors 1 inch shims is what i actually have. I want to go higher. My plan is to get the Icon coilovers to get 3 inches of lift. Then get the Dobinsons 1.75 rear coil springs. I just got some nice method 305 rims delivered. I have on order some 295/70r18 BFG KO2s but are on backorder with no ETA

i think 3" lift in the front will be pushing it on stock UCA's, but you'll need about that much if you want to clear a 35" tire. if you do decide to go that high in the front, then i would also suggest getting the 2.5" dobinson's rears, otherwise you may end up with the front a bit higher. do it once and do it right. i personally love the stance of my Sequoia as is.

also, i've been driving lifted toyotas for my entire life and while BFG's have the best reputation, i have to recommend these Nitto Ridge Grapplers. these are amazingly quiet on the road, look aggressive as hell and have performed amazing off road. tread life has been better than expected as well. i barely got 20K out of the BFG KO2's i ran a while back, but i think i will get 40K+ out of these if i can refrain from peeling out :burnrubber:

i've seen 1 sequoia that had pocket style tundra flares which for the front i believe are the same(or close enough to make them work) but for the rear would be a total custom job to get them to work with the rear doors. i just have the EOM ones and am happy with the look and they were very easy to install.

GL and post your build thread if you haven't already!

    JB

Did you have to do anything special to install your king coilovers or was direct fit? Ive been doing research if I should get king or Icon. You are at 3 inches in front right? Im considering just getting King’s instead.

Kings are the same for 2008+ Sequoia as 2007+ Tundra. direct fit, yes.

the previous owner of this Sequoia had icons, and the kings were my first mod so i could get remote res with adjusters. night and day better in every way with the kings. just my opinion, but am 100% biased! Only coilover i'll ever buy again.

i "think" i am at 3" front, but this vehicle wasn't stock when i bought it and these kings are maxed out in the front as far as lift.

One last question sorry for all of them by the way. It took me a long time to find a forum for modding sequoias. I also have a 2014 lexus IS350 modded and found tons of forums for that car. Since I will be going the 3 inches in the front I would rather go with 35’s either 35x12.5r18 or 285/75r18 before you removed the bottom part of your bumper did it rub at all? I love the turn radius of the sequoia I wouldn't want to jeopardize it. I have on order 295/70r18s

i put my 35's on after getting the high clearance bumper. i recently started getting the slightest rub on the driver front body mount when backing up and wheel turned, and i mean ever so slight.
and yes, the turning radius on these are amazing as hell!

    @Jbtaco2002 very cool build!

I’m looking at 285/75 17s and bushwhacker oe flares on my ‘14 sequoia. What offset would I need to get flush with the flares? Most of the rims I’m looking at are 8.5 width. Also how much lift would I need to clear?

i honestly don't know. for reference i am running 2018+ TRD Pro BBS wheels (you can find those specs) and spidertrax 1.25" spacers. my setup is pretty damn close to flush with the black fender flares

Rad build - those Ridge Grapplers really transformed the look!

Do you happen to remember which gold/bronze color you chose from DYC for the RW wheels? I'm thinking about doing the same to my RW's, but want a little darker than in your pictures.
