My 2015 Toyota Tundra Platinum starts and then dies 2 seconds later. Has anyone else experienced this? I brought it to the Toyota dealership and they said they didn’t exactly know what was wrong.. They said it might be might be the factory remote starter? So they took it apart charged me $200 and I still have the same issue. It doesn’t always do it which is the strange part but it’s been going on for weeks. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Sorry to hear about your dealership bullsh!t. All too often heard story.

If you're just looking to get it somewhere (home?) then I would disconnect the battery cable from the battery and leave them unhooked for 20 minutes. After you unhook them pump the brake pedal 15 times. You're trying to totally deplete any residual electrical charges in the system. Then reconnect after 20 minutes and see.

As you have a 2015 and haven't identified whether you know the life of the battery I'm going to say it's the factory original. I vote to replace it. Get a new battery.

Again, sorry to hear that a Toyota dealership essentially stole from you.

I thought the same thing with the battery so I got a brand new interstate battery and it’s still doing it. I’ve had nothing but issues with this truck.

If your check engine light is on you may want to check the codes. It sounds like a crank shaft sensor or mass air flow sensor. I had that problem with my 2000 tundra when I changed the timing belt I pull the wires loose from the crank shaft sensor and it would run for a couple seconds then quit.thought I would tell you about my experience.

    Lost track after #1.
Does it run at all at this point? If so, how many times do you have to start it to keep it running? Also, did you happen to fill up with gas from a mom & pop gas station or from a sketchy one right before it started happening?

How many miles do you have on it? Being an intermittent problem with no CEL it sounds like it MAY be fuel related since that is a system that is not monitored. If you can, try to take note of when it happens. Hot/Cold engine coolant temps, after a long drive and has been heat soaking etc. Have you had any of the charging system/battery disconnected and possibly left the battery terminals loose? Have you taken it through water or mud and contaminated the crankshaft position sensor? Are there signs of rodents within your engine compartment? 90% of the time its something that is really simple. Air, fuel, spark.

It ended being the stock remote starter needed to be replaced. No problems since. Thank you for everyone’s responses

My 2015 Tundra is doing what you described. I've been to two dealers so far, neither could figure it out. Neither dealer said it might be the remote, which is installed in my truck like on your truck. They both gave up after the truck began working again. Did your dealership share other info with you like which codes were thrown, or how they determined it was the remote?

We have a 2005 Tundra, and having the same problem. Doesn't seem to be gas-quality related. We will try the detach-battery approach. We have no remote starter. And this has happened in hot weather and cold, from a cold start and after running 10 minutes before, happens 100% of the time, always requires exactly two start-up attempts (never three or four, etc.), and seemed to begin happening all at once. That is, there wasn't a period when it would happen sometimes, then more, and now 100% of the time. It just went to 100% of the time one day. And once started, it runs great.

We also do have some dashboard lights, but we've checked those and have always been related to air pressure in the exhaust system.

(Curious here: Why would this battery-detaching trick work? What's going on that some residual charge in the system remains for months on end, that this will fix it?)

Would it have to do with an IACV?? I have a hard start with my SC4, which is a 1UZ, I'm troubleshooting a few things... but am looking at the IACV as sometimes its a good start others its a hard start out of the blue sky... Sometimes its a 2 try day others is a 4... idle issues come and go, as well as a super low idle with the brakes applied....

Battery detachment may be a quick reset of the system, but getting to the underlying root of the problem may be a better option...

My 08 Sequoia Platinum does the same thing. We start it with the remote starter and it stays running. This leads me to believe the problem is in the remote starter also.
