2004 tundra SR5 DC passenger power lock not working

    So I’ve had my truck for a little over a year now and ever since I got it the passenger door lock has never worked correctly. The door still locks but you have to either walk around and put the key into the door or reach over from the driver side to lock/unlock it. Even when you press the lock/unlock button on the driver door or passenger door it still will not lock. It always has to be manually locked. I was wondering if there was some simple fix to this issue. I’ve already checked all of the fuses and made sure they are all good so I know it’s not that. I was also wondering if there is a way to configure w key fob for this year of truck. Did it come with one? Is there a way to program a new one?

    Sounds like a bad door lock actuator to me I just replaced the drivers side one on mine. I bought the wrong one originally and forgot to return it could be yours for free 99 if it's the right part. 746-638 6 pin connection mine was a 4 pin.

    2nd this...sounds like the door lock actuator. I replaced about 4 over the years in my 07 taco.

    There are a lot of YouTube videos on replacing them in Toyota’s.

    From my experience the door lock actuator costs about $200-$300 from Toyota if I remember correctly... but replacing the whole actuator is not needed.

    It’s the little DC motor inside the actuator that usually goes faulty and those run less than $10 bucks.

    If you try this just take your time and be very careful. Pretty much you will need to get the actuator out of the door then open up the actuator to swap out the little dc motor. I did this over the years on all four doors and never had any other issues with them.
