Actually, I do regret saying what you are doing is stupid. My apologies sir. I wish you the best in life and towing. Maybe I'm missing something. You see, most of my family is from where you tow regularly. Mostly flat land and rolling hills.

I do wonder though how you can tow at those speeds and get anywhere but from fuel station to fuel station.

I do ask our commercial drivers on here questions all the time. In fact, I was chatting with @GNTundra the other day about weight limits on 3/4 ton trucks in commercial applications. He schooled me up on that topic, and was a little disappointed in the results.

So I'll tell you what, since TundraTalk would eat you alive, I'll just stay clear of you on this site. I put you on ignore, maybe you should do the same.

What does a 3/4 ton application have to do with this thread or whats being discussed here??? What does Tundratalks website have to do with this thread or your actions here???

If you want to disagree with me thats fine. Opinions are like ........ everyone has one. --- See what I did there? A witty comment!!!! You are rubbing off on me already!!!!

My point is thats all I've gotten from your posts are witty comments and insults, like the one above with you telling me I'm a moron.

Because your internet buddy @GNTundra discussed 3/4 ton applications with you on a message board that gives you the right to demean what another poster on this board says? Again just not following your logic.

Also most people in and around Minnesota pull thier campers @ 75-80 mph. So if that bothers you that badly move your family members out now. As a matter of fact I useually set my cruze for 4-5 over the posted, and useually get passed by everyone. Obviously I am keeping safe following distance in mind for the speeds I'm going and dial down accordingly. Not only does my Tundra handle this type of driving/pulling well, but I am very expienced doing so, which most aren't.

As far as Tundratalk goes I havent had an issue on that site and been there for years. Im under a different user name than here as I was registered there long ago when I purchased my 2007. Why would you even be worried about Tundratalks enviornment or how I'm treated there?

You think to far into everything and then assume.

Taskmaster tire # TTWTRTM2358016E is a 235/80-16 load range E tire rated for 3,520 pounds at 80 psi. It also has an M speed rating which is 81 miles per hour.

The above is what I run on my dual axle trailer which I pull behind my Tundra. I think I will stick with the tire manufactures ratings posted directly on the sidewall lol.

Like I said I have 17 years exp. in hauling from Semi down to 1/2 trucks. I know the ratings and capacities of my equipment and pretrip before/during/ and after.

If you want to discredit please have your facts and information in order rather than resorting to posting random goofy/generic informatation logo's you copy/pasted. Good God that info tag uses words like "useually" & "nearly all". I sure cant base my equipment capabilities off that information. It isn't even signed or quoted by DOT or any tire manufacture.

They'd make great bumper stickers thou.

Actually I'm installing the TRD dual Catback exhaust & CAI on my Tundra in my garage while watching my 6 yearold boy play with his friends in the front yard. Wifes at work - shes a dispatcher for Allied Vanlines.

This is good cheap entertainment between me crawling out from under my truck every 15 minutes.

I was just curious how far this would go considering ColoradoTJ ran out of material and had to call you in as DH.

Certainly a lively discussion... As mentioned earlier in this thread, I pulled a 33' TT with my Tundra. Had the tow package, sway bars, and load distributed corrected (confirmed at the weigh station). Nevertheless, it was too much for this truck. (Wouldn't consider any other truck.) Wife was a trooper, but obviously not happy on the interstate every time an 18 wheeler blew by us, or a cross wind came up. We sold the TT and each bought new vehicles of our choosing (thus my 2016 TSS Tundra! She got her Lexus.) We will still drive across the country as we have each summer. However, RV parks and campsites will be replaced by B&Bs. (Ugh.) Happy wife,.... RV'rs remember to be safe on the road, and look out for each other! That's what RV'rs do.

Oh I didn't run out of material @Kizmatti, I just know better. I owned a Tundra as well. What works for you flatlanders surely doesn't in the mountain ranges. Again, if you think towing a 30' TT at 75-80 mph is safe in a half ton, keep it up. Your admitting to breaking the law. Who knows if you have a safe and accident free record? I don't know that.

    It's cool.

So what axles are under your TT? I would sure like to know what make and model that is.

Exactly my point, just more eloquently delivered.

We have several new guys on this thread alone asking some legit questions.

We pull some bigger trailers in my crew. Some have learned the hard way.

    IMG_0351.jpg

This guy has learned the hard way a few times running that speed and he runs Michelin Ribs.

Wow, that may be the longest trailer I've ever seen hooked up to a pickup. How long and heavy is it?

Unbelievable! What's in that trailer and what's the pin weight on his truck? Of course, where does he go to get gas? And I bet he goes a lot!

Its all good man I do understand your & Colorado's points. Also think maybe my original post was misunderstood. Can happen thru posts on Internet. Wasn't trying to imply that I'm dive bombing the highways @ 75-80 pulling a trailer with a 1/2 ton. The OP asked about the Tundra's handling with 30 foot trailers saying his was squirrely and all over the place. My original point was I have been up to 70-75 mph towing smoothly down the road with my setup. Now this is not in heavey interstate traffic, or going thru city limits. This would be on interstate highways out in the boonies. Time & place for everything along with a good dose of common sense does need to be used.

Yes I know tire specs on all my vehicles. My campers actually up North - Duluth- winterized till May. We've left it there the last 2 years so I dont have to tow it. Lot rent for the year is cheaper than the gas you spend towing around all summer.

Anyway interesting thread. Good to meet both you and Colorado. I will think twice about how I word my posts. As I never even thought that someone reading what I did post would interpret it's cool to tow 70-80 mph everywhere dive bombing the interstates like a maniac.

47' race trailer. ~16k lbs. Totally legal under DOT rules with the right license, and what I was talking about with Geno the other night. He has replaced both bedsides and and the trailers fenders due to blowouts at 75 mph. His tires are LT's all around and rated for the speed and definitely for the weight.

We have learned to slow the F down and try not keeping up with the other race teams since they have FL70 series trucks. (Or just moved up to Tractor trailers)

This past year, at 75 mph, it came close to wadding the whole damn thing up.

Dropping to 65-70 mph has solved these tire issues.

There is an outlaw dragster inside. Pin weight is ~3100 lbs. where it gets interesting is having the 56 gallon tank in the bed. The airbags are at 100 psi and on the overloads.

For me, I want you to have a safe, and very long life. I mean that, truely do.

I used to tow like a jackass because I had diesel trucks long before I owned my Tundra. I was lucky for all those years. My Tundra taught me a thing or two, and made me realize that everything has limits. Great 1/2 tons and I recommend them to everyone.

I just never want you or your family to end up like this family. I unfortunately see this all to much.

Not sure if it is people's egos or what in my damn state, but all to common scene. Hell, this is Monument Hill, not even a mountain pass. Straight as an arrow.

IMG_1667.jpg Not trying to get involved with a heated conversation or arguments. I am kinda new to forum. I appreciate all the great information that you can get from this site. I just wanted to say my wife and a just bought a brand new30ft Travel Trailer. I was worried that it was to big for my Tundra to tow. I took all the weight information to my dealer and they said it could haul it with no problem at all, it could haul even more weight if needed. I bought a brand new 2017 Cherokee Limited. The dry weight was 6,500 lbs. I also purchased the Equlizer hitch with sway bars. I helped the dealer set up the hitch. After it was properly installed and I made sure the front end was back to the exact height at the front axle when the trailer was hucked up. I had to drive 1 1/2 hours away to pick it up. I was a little nervous about hauling that big of a trailer because all I ever hauled was my 20 ft bass boat. I didn't know what to expect handling wise and I had a long drive home to figure it out. The truck hauled the trailer amazing. I was really worried about the swaying all over the highway. It honestly had no sway at all. I was shocked!! I used the tow haul mode put the cruise control on about 62 MPH. It hauled it very nicely. I was worried for nothing. I don't think I would want anything any heavier because your gas mileage does drop pretty bad. I hope I didn't step on any toes adding to this conversation. I just wanted to post my experience that I just had last week!

The accidents really got bad on I-25 through El Paso county in CO. In fact, it was the most deadly stretch of this highway. Pretty sad since I-25 goes from northern Wyoming down to Albuquerque, NM where it connects to I-40. That is a stigma that is not wanted. Most of the time, it was some jackass with a big diesel towing doubles at high speeds.

The highway patrol really upped their presence on this stretch of road in our state and really got aggressive. That helped a lot.

There is no question about weight, these Tundra trucks can pull.

You live in a rather flat state and driving at that speed will net you the best fuel economy.

I would check into your owners manual on Cruise Control and towing in the Tundra.

It has been a bad year in CO for wind. The off-road group I belong to has a 40' toyhauler, something tells me this will be a slow ass towing year and still getting crap fuel economy.

I work at a RV service and repair center... I bought my Tundra to TOW.... I plan on a Equalizer hitch for a tow behind and still debating a 30 or less 5th wheel... We haul the bigger stuff with my Boss's Ford 2500. I am still setting up my tow package.. but I am learning a lot about what people are towing and how..... and I have a lot of used hitches and Travel trailers around to play with..

We bought the Tacoma in Feb 2016. Bought camper in April. I towed tt for 2 years from factory to dealerships across the country. Purchased trailer head dealer set up hitch and sway control. First tow on tacoma and trailer was from Harrisburg pa to Hagerstown, md. One of the most white knuckle drives with a trailer (and I've done a180 with a trailer on the interstate before). Got home and changed the wd hitch and made a hell of a difference. But after 4 trips last summer and the wife wanting to go camping more this summer and going to more bmx nationals. We decided to upgrade to a tundra. On the short test drive i did hooked to our trailer there is no comparison. Glad we upgraded for the towing but the gas mileage difference sucks. Oh well.
