anyone else swap out their sport suspension for 5100’s top setting. Just did the upgrade 17’s with 35 tires (which I love), but ride still feels just as stiff. I’m actually learning to enjoy the feeling of my brain getting jolted a bit. But would removing sway bars help?

Yes removing sway bar will soften the ride. I removed sway bars on my 2020 Off Road and there staying off.

5100s jacked to the top are going to be stiff due to all the preload. You have probably also moved to LT tires, guessing load E which also ride stiffer. Maybe check the air pressure and dial that in. There is a great post here on this site about air pressure and how air pressure requirements change when moving from stock SL tire to an LT tire. You can't go off the info on the door unless the truck is running stock SL tires. And you should not go off the max pressure on the sidewall of the tire. Pressure that is too high will also cause an ultra-firm, jarring ride.

I ran 285/70/17 load E rating on my Tacoma. Close to the size you are running on your Tundra. I ran between 32 psi and 35 psi in my tires. Truck road very nice. Of course the Taco is a lighter truck than the Tundra, but that pressure would be a start.

They’re Kenda Klever RT. My tire guy had me at 40 psi all around. My off road enthusiast buddy told me to run the rears at 35 and keep 40 up front. Guess I’ll have to mess with the air pressure.

Drop the tire air pressure to 19 pounds at all four corners too.

Do you feel the ride on 5100 become stiffer?
I want to go away from a plush ride on OEM shocks, which is way too soft and bounce.

The 5100’s seem to be softening up a bit now that they’ve broken in some. Still though not much different from the trd sport shocks. Also I’ve never taken off my sway bars which many claim would make a big difference in ride. Either way I’m really pleased.

I have TRD Offroad which has yellow Bilsten shocks, if I'm not mistaken (could they be B6 4600-series???). I believe that TRD Sport has stiffer shocks then TRD Offroad.
So you are saying even after some stiffness 5100 still compare to TRD Sport shocks and I'd assume then they are stiffer then OEM yellow shocks.
I'm looking to stiffen my ride for more control and ride quality.

They were the red and blue shocks. Yeah I’d say the 5100 are comparable to my trd sport shocks. But they’re also at top setting, and like I said I think my sway bars add to the stiffness of the ride. Maybe you should look into sway bars as well. Just hauled ass up the mountain this past week, and felt really comfy taking the tight turns at a good speed.

Setup looks great. Did you lift the rear?

Thanks! Yeah the Bilstein 5100 at top setting. Just under 3” lift.

Awesome. I'm moving my 5100s to the top from the middle setting. My shackles just came in for the rear so I can pick that up a little too and keep the stance. We'll see how she rides.

Are you still enjoying this setup? I’m looking at doing the 5100’s all around on my TRD Sport but I’m thinking of doing the middle setting.
