Bought new tundra saturday. Was late evening but i thought i looked the truck over good enough. Evidently i didnt look inside the door frame closely. Theres a couple annoying scratches. Nothing tooo crazy but enough to feel with my fingernail. Would it be worth hassling with the dealer or should i just throw some touch up paint on and be done?

That stinks. If it really bothers you I'd take it back to the dealer to be fixed. But it'll probably end up being more hassle than its worth. I'd still take it back though.

Throw on some touch up paint and then install door sill protectors to prevent further scratching

Go back and complain. You bought a new truck and there shouldn't have damage. Do it quickly or they may blame you for it. I would make them touch up the scratches and put sill protectors on it at their cost.

Brand new truck, BRING IT BACK and have them fix it. May not be that big a deal, but 40k+ for a vehicle is and for it not to be right???

A few months after buying my 2012 brand new, I noticed a small crease in the bedside just behind the right rear wheel. It was only noticeable if the truck was dirty and the light hit it just right. I guess it was a factory defect that was never caught at the plant, but I just lived with it until I sold the truck. If I would have seen it days instead of months after buying I probably would have taken it back to the dealer.

I'm in the "Take it back" camp. At the very least they can toss you some touch-up paint.

I have the same issue with my black Tundra. If you look down the side of the box you can see a small ripple in the sheet metal. I was going to complain but after looking at a few black Tundra's on the lot saw that they all had the defect.

It's new truck so bring it back for them to fix it. In the past past I bought a vehicle around 8 PM and didn't know there are 3 small dings that can't see at night or if it dirty. I brought mine back the next day and they fixed the dings. I learned a lesson that if I buy a new vehicle, I have to check it out clearly during day time.

I’ve read about small issues like this and the dealer made it right. I also say take it back and see what they will do. It’ll also show you how much they will work with you in the future.

Interesting. I always wondered if mine was damaged or if it was normal because the crease was curved and almost looked like it could've been a body line, but the driver's side didn't have it. Maybe that's why the right wheel looks like it sticks out further, lol.

I found a slight dent in the bed fender a few inche
I have a small dimple in the upper side of my box that I believe came that way from the dealer. It's so small it's not worth addressing. Not black, though.

Mine are at the top of the box. Looks like someone had been careless and bumped the truck when putting something in the box. I have it on both sides. I think it's something that happens when the panels are welded or during the stamping process. I've noticed it on other black Tundras.

Is that where some jackoff used the door frame as a step? It really sucks that happened to a new truck. Fact is...you're going to get a lot of those through the years. Family, friends, service techs etc... are going to use that as a step. I would recommend those door sill protectors. I have them on my truck. It's a vinyl overlay on that part and it's been pretty durable.

Yeah I've seen that before. I believe it's from standing on the rear tire to get into the bed and being deformed by a knee.

I doubt that they would do that at the factory and I'm sure you didn't do it if that's what you meant.

My neighbor bought a 2021 Tundra Sr5, had the truck two hours, stopped by the house to show me, my dog got excited and jumped on his driver door.. Put some light scratches in the door, I paid to have them buffed out. It was back to new...

A week later, he ran the truck through a ditch and hit two coverts.. It's been being repaired for a few weeks now..

I also recommend the sill protectors. That area will see a lot of foot traffic. Many different styles available on Amazon and eBay.

The Toyota ones do. Get the ones that wrap around the edge so they cover the horizontal and vertical surfaces.

Since it's a new truck, I'd take it in, show them the scratches and ask them for a thing of touch up paint and sill protectors. Take it home, drink a beer and do it yourself.
