I actually think the TRD exhaust is pretty horrible. Especially when towing, but even going throttle heavy around town. I’ve owned and rode in enough V8’s to know this isn’t right. The whump-whump-whump harmonic is annoying AF and makes it sound like the engine is skipping every other spark. Towing just makes it happen more and it gets old fast.

It’s another half-ass solution from Toyota and I’ll be removing mine in the spring. Just help me distract the wife during a spring DD’s sale.

I do love railing on the motor in tunnels. Freaks out the people next to me. Normally I’m a nice guy, but not in tunnels....

Do you have the resonator installed?

I've read that a h-pipe really helps and I plan on adding one to my TRD exhaust one of these days.

So are you experiencing any drone when not towing? I ask as I am supposed to take delivery next week of a 12" system.

I have the 12 inch with resonator also. No drone at all - just a nice tone. I don’t tow so I can’t speak to that.

I’m interested to hear Pbed85 opinion.

No drone when I'm not towing. More overall sound level/ noise when towing than I'd like. Pros and cons of aftermarket exhaust. I also have a Topper and not sure if that affects or enhances the sound.

I am running a DD system and have zero drone... towing or not. Exhaust sound of course is more noticeable when towing... but no drone
