    Hi Everyone,

I'm looking at upgrading my suspension to the FOX TRD Pro suspension from the TRD Offroad Bilstein. I really like the ride and feel of the Pro suspension, but have heard that it sags quite a bit in the back when towing. I infrequently tow up to 5000lbs (under 5x annually) on my truck and it looks to be minimal sag on my current suspension, but that could be attributed to the Limited's front end being lower than the TRD Pro front end height. Curious to see how much of a rear sag when others are experiencing when they tow 5000+ lbs in their PRO. Would like to see the sags before I drop coin on new suspension.

I don’t have a pro so I can’t take any towing pictures, but have you looked in to also getting airbags or a helper spring? A WDH might help enough too.

I've read that on other posts about Pro owners getting airbags for their trucks. TBH, I don't want to add additional stuff outside of the Pro suspensions and keep it as Toyota OEM as possible. That's why it just left the question so black and white. Either, I get the suspensions or I don't.

Could always lift the rear to get the rake

Why are you wanting to go to the Pro suspension? Are you off roading a lot or just wanting it for the ride?
I know if your main concern is with towing, check out Falcon suspension. https://www.falconshocks.com/2007-toyota-tundra

Not comparable to the Fox if you are off roading but worth looking at.

I go off roading here and there. Not as much as I’d like to but enough. Been going toward the toy hauler realm, but also want something that can hold its own.

The advertisements for the Falcon have them on dirt roads and they do better than the stock OR suspension but I doubt they would compare to the Pro Fox suspension. I'd say check out their videos some but you know your uses. Fox makes good suspension so no wrong choice with them

The PRO suspension is not the best for towing. My trailer's pin weight is in the 650lbs range. Add in the cooler full of beer, firewood and whatever else gets thrown into the bed and it sags a lot. I hit the scales last weekend and with all the family I've got just over 1,000lbs additional weigh on the rear axle. I've got a WDH that raises things back up to about negative 1" rake.

I have a Platinum with the TRD Pro suspension. I also put airlift airbags. It tows amazingly! I don’t even notice the airbags are there when not inflated for towing. I also really like how it handles when towing. It rides great even with a heavy load. These TRD Pro fox shocks continue to impress in all conditions. IMO, they are the best you can get for this truck.

When I 1st go my pro it would sag with a full bed and two mountain bikes. I fixed the problem with new leaf pack from Alcan and CB +1 shackles.

I tow a Center Console Bay Boat. Got out of a Tacoma TRD OR into this 2019 Tundra TRD Pro and love the power and space. The suspension is absolutely perfect with one small caveat, the front sits dead level with the rear, no rake at all. This is due to the front TRD springs having an inch more lift than the standard springs. That drove me nuts. Can't handle a pickup truck that sits FLAT. Trucks are made to haul & tow, therefore the rear needs to be a little higher. So, I installed a set of Pro Form Fab +1.5 shackles and issue resolved. The truck should have came this way from the factory in my opinion. Perfect rake for everyday driving, no sag when towing the boat.

Thank you, this helps a lot. Sounds like from everyone that’s replied. The consensus is a minor modification to the stock Pro suspension setup. Whether it is airbags or shackles in the rear to give it that perfect rake. I’ll probably hold off upgrading to the pro suspension for now. Seems like there would be additional effort and added cost than I’m willing to do at this time.

The main problem you will have is "Acquiring" the TRD Pro suspension components. You can't just buy that stuff from Toyota without having a TRD Pro VIN # to give them. Or, that's what I was told anyway. I bought PRO suspension for my Tacoma TRD OR from a guy on the FaceBook Marketplace. It's not easy to find, that's for sure.

Been thinking of getting the TRD Pro suspension for my platinum too. Are yours the fox or bilsteins? Was it simple as just bolt on and go?

They are the fox. The dealer put them on, but it looks like simple bolt and go. They didn’t have to modify anything.

I just ordered a set of new front and rear Fox TRD shocks for $2600. :D For your 1.5" shackles, did you have to modify the rear at all outside of installing the shackles?

It depends on which shackles you buy. The CB and ToyTec require no fitting, the Pro Form Fabs may/may not require you to grind some material off the leaf spring bushing sleeve, it's no big deal. Might have to remove 1/16 of an inch if that.

An tough country add a leaf will increase payload some and give you a little more than an 1” more rake. I had that on my 18’ with #2 shackles.

Thanks everyone! Got the setup ready! Just need to find time to install it. Will most likely wait until spring as I don’t want to hit it with the salt roads in the coming months. Plus it’s getting too cold to want to do any work outdoors.

That's awesome. you will love the ride quality. And the shackles will provide the perfect amount of rake.

Looking at installing some shackles to give my PRO some rake just not sure what manufacturer to go with. I want to make sure I’m using better then OEM stuff on my truck.

What manufacturer did you go with and why?
