I looked up the saddle thrombus again I remember why the vet ruled it out - his back legs had a pulse and weren't cold. Plus, he really doesn't seem to be in pain unless I press on the head (?) of his tail. And even then, it's just kind of a "Hey, please stop" action. I really believe what the vet thought was pain was him being angry.

The first visit after they removed a bad tooth, they took him outside the room to weigh him and take some blood. I heard this horrible cat noise like it was going to kill somebody. I didn't think it was Emerson. Then I hear one of the techs say, "Open the door!" and the door to the room opens a crack. Em comes walking in like a badass and just kind of looked at me like "What's up?" Same visit, the vet decided to give him a shot in his rear leg. I was going to hold him but they insisted on having the tech hold his neck. I'm between the tech, and the vet, talking to Em. As soon as the tech touches him - he's pissed. The vet tries to put the needle in his leg and Em-cat breaks free from the tech, ignores me and goes for the Vet, bending the needle with his leg muscle. I was like "Holy shit." They wrestle him down, give him the shot with a new syringe, and get the hell out. I open the door to his carrier and he walks in there and lays down like nothing happened.

It sounds like the thrombus is super painful and I just haven't seen it in him. There's a look he gets when he's in pain - I knew something was different that night he fell or whatever because he was really clinging to me, I just didn't pick up on it right away. And yeah, I love him. We rescued him when he was 5 weeks old and he immediately bonded with me. It's hard because it's a 20 minute car ride to the vet, which he hates. Then it'd be dropping him off and I can't do that to him.

Ideally, he'll magically get better. Realistically, he won't. Fortunately our vet is pretty cool and she told me if we need more pain meds, to just let her know (I have leftovers from before). She also gave me the name of a vet that'll come to the house if he needs to be put to sleep.

He's over in his bin right now, doing the slow blinks at me so I'll come sit by him. Anyway, I'm gonna go hang out with him. Thank you again for your thoughts and your words. It means a lot.

You are welcome, and I am so sorry you and Emerson are going through this. It sounds like he knows he is very loved and the bond you share is so sweet! Take care...

BE1F4F1B-3B98-4D86-9E6A-5A348F2A3ECE.jpg Well Ringo had his teeth cleaned today, none pulled, super hungry this morning due to the fasting. He did great and hammed it up with all the vet girls, I knew he would! Blood tests came back great, doctor said he’s a healthy looking 13+yo male cat! He’s finally coming out and wanting attention.......and the milk he missed this morning! He’s still sorta drunk walking around but I’m glad he’s back home safe!

My GF brought the Bengal home a few weeks ago, her name is Fendi. The Calico is a little over a year named DaBaby. DaBaby was a rescue, found her in a Del Taco parking lot abandoned. She was so small she had to be bottle fed.

We lost Bailey (grey cat) to a vehicle. That sucked and the girls took it hard. They dug him a grave by his favorite tree and made a headstone for him.

Having only one cat sucks, and having only a little kitten isn’t fair. We decided to get two barn kittens.

    This is Simba

    The other kitten is Shadow.

Our oldest cat Panther aka Dexter got into a fight with something and almost lost his tail...maybe more. We have been seeing some fox and coyotes around the property more lately.

So this past week the cats have been hanging in the garage...so I picked up a toy for them.

Do most of your cats have “normal” names?
I feel like all or most of mine have had random non human names.
Dusty, halfpint, buckwheat(I think, it was a childhood cat) Clovis(she was the best, but her real name was Kally) milo, pearl, and now ringo(he’s got a nose just like the drummer) and Dali(because she has a sweet moustache like the artist)

They have really helped us out here. The pocket gophers/rabbits/mice can be a problem. The owls and rather large hawks are a problem for our smaller animals. We really have to watch out above.

We do a lot of laundry and can use all the help we can get. Here's Buddy lending a hand in our laundry room. He's so thoughtful . . .

    Sleepy Time.jpg

Several years ago I dumped some warm laundry on the bed for folding.
Immediately the girls, Sally & Pumpkin, jumped in to lend a hand . . .

Ringo hamming it up. Of course he tries to rabbit kick me and attack, but thankfully when he had his teeth cleaned they trimmed all his nails!!!!! Earlier he was chillin and I was gently pulling on his claws as he gently tried to sink them into my fingers, kinda like stretching them for him, he liked it.

lost a pure bred and half coon this year. The void is huge, but her personality is worth every penny

Pure bred maine coon are my favorite if I'm buying a cat, but I am cheaper than Scotty Kilmer - I take in feral cats.
