Been using Meguiars Ultimate Wheel Cleaner for the rims and Meguiars hot Shine Foam for the tires. Wipe em clean and then spray them off. Rims always come out streaky and not much shine (this photo is the worst scenario). The heck am I doing wrong?

What's the consensus on product to keep these looking slick?

Meguiars Ultimate All Wheel Cleaner is, according to their ad, safe for all wheels. The pics look like residue left from the cleaner, or maybe even from the water you're rinsing with? I'm guessing that's a clear coated wheel? I'd try a light polish in an inconspicuous area and see if you can improve them....it can't hurt. I've seen residue like that from P&S Brake Buster on my wheels......a little elbow grease and it came off. How long are you letting the product dwell, and are you agitating to clean your wheels?

AS far as what you're doing wrong.....I have not used a dedicated wheel cleaner for years. Once I got my wheels clean, I coated them. Soap and water clean them now.

Looks like the cleaner wasn’t rinsed off completely. Use some elbow grease to clean them well, then look at putting Cerakote on them. I put it on my wheels a while back and they’re so much easier to clean.

X3. I see this same thing after using brake blaster. I always go back and wipe them down with griots 3-1. On my personal trucks I coated my wheels with CarPro dlux

I figured scrubbing them and then pressure washing them off would have been enough to get the product off. I'm getting to the end of my meguiars supply so I'm gonna do some more reading on what to go with next.

Not sure if it's age or using the wrong products but I've never been able to get the shine on them that I want.

I tried the Megs Ultimate wheel cleaner 1x on these with similar results. I had always previously used soap/water with perfect results.
I ended up using a microfiber and soap/water and a lot of elbow grease to clean the wheels. Then used a spray topper like Griots 3-1 or F11 (i know people hate this stuff, but it works decently and cleans up easily). These were on black TSS wheels as well, but the newer version. I am not sure what the finish is on these, but am certain they are not clear coated.

I have the same wheels. They look just like that. I was thinking about using a powerball or cone to get them shiny again, but I'm considering making them my winter wheels.

I see folks recommending Nufinish once a year to coat them. Just bought some and will give it a try next time I clean them. Seems alot of folks have trouble with the Meguiars tire/wheel cleaners, specifically on these black TSS rims.

Might try it on paint if I like it. Been using turtle wax seal and shine and while it gives a great shine and lasting hydrophobic it seems to cling dirt, etc. Need to find something else that handles better in uncovered parking.

What product would you recommend to use with the cone? I was considering just using Nufinish or some cheap cleaner wax.

I started using Nufinish when I was 16 on my first car, because my dad had some. And that was a LONG time ago, lol. Have not used it in many years but the stuff worked really well. I wonder if it was the first real "sealant"?.

Anyway, it works well, lasts a long time and is easy to use.

this is what I need. I’m wearing thin on the time it takes to keep a black uncovered truck detailed.

I feel ya, I have a black truck too.

Best advice I can give is get the truck good and clean, when use whatever sealant you like such as Meguiars Ultimate or whatever, then top coat with something like beadmaker or some other similar top coat. It makes the truck stay much cleaner. I can drive in rain a few days and the truck is still cleaner than 90% of the vehicles on the road. When you do wash it, you can use the top coat product as a drying aid to boost protection longevity.

Also pay attention to what soap you use when washing. Use a dedicated auto wash that will not remove the wax/sealant. Stay away from auto car washes. Doing that should keep your truck good and protected and keep the paint nice and dark and beading water for 3-4 months, then it is time to wax/seal again.

I use the meguiars deep crystal. When I’m out of it I’m gonna get the Gold Class.
then I use the turtle wax seal and shine. So I guess I need to use a sealant before the seal and shine? Guess I could try the Nufinish as a sealant.

heavy dew and my truck looks like this

Definitely upgrade from Deep Crystal....very little cleaning power and even less lubricity. If you shop for soap in your local WalMart, they now carry Chemical Guys soaps....look for HoneyDew Snow Foam. You can skip pretty much everything else CG sells. As sealants go, invest in a good one, like Jescar PowerLock, Wolfgang Deep Gloss paint Sealant, or their SIO2 version (my new favorite), or McKees HiDef.

I've never used T/W Seal and Shine, but their new line, Hybrid Solutions, has gotten high marks from detailers. If you prefer the application of a spray as opposed to a liquid, you can not go wrong with Griots 3 in 1 Ceramic Spray Sealant. Locally available, easy to use and a very affordable price point. I've had very good success with it. I bought a bottle, and have done 4 cars with it, and still have half the bottle. Probably one of the best over-the-counter offerings out there. There can be streaking issues, so be mindful of weather conditions when you apply.

Well went over this one about ten times with soap and water to no avail. Pretty sure the streaks aren’t coming out. Gonna try cleaning with some dawn but I’m pretty sure streaks are here to stay. Not sure if the nufinish would help hide them or where to go from here but now I’m afraid to use a sealant on them.

looks good when wet but as soon as it dries the spots and streaks are visible

I have the same problem. The Mothers Cone doesn’t work. I’m told it had something to do with the silicone while the dealer put on them... that and the car was

I'd be surprised if Iron-X made a difference. It reacts with iron deposits, and I do not believe that is what you're looking at. Post this up on Autogeek and Autopia forum sites and see what others say. Both are loaded with people who have probably forgotten more about detailing than I will ever learn.
