As the title pretty much says, I'm looking for any help from folks who have installed the BD 40" light bar in their hood bulge with the SDHQ mounting brackets. I'm tackling the project this upcoming weekend and want to ensure if goes smooth. If you have run into any obstacles, quirks, confusion, extra parts needs, etc.. when installing yours, please let me know. Thanks in advance!

You may need to provide a little more info - are you using SDHQ mouning brackets, or someone elses brackets, fabing your own? I have not personally installed a hood bulge light bar (yet), but you do have to some cutting behind the bulge.

I have one. The instructions are pretty good except for one thing.

Forget about using the templates that come with the SDHQ kit. There are 2 factory holes in the hood, (one passenger side, one driver side) that the bracket utilizes. Those holes are for the front part of the bracket. You can install the bracket with just one bolt, for mock up. Then install the light bar, tighten it down so that the brackets straighten up. From there you can mark where the second hole on the bracket will need to be drilled.

As for the hole saw that they suggest you use for the 3 holes in the hood, you can use a smaller one, like a 2", but ONLY if you have a long allen wrench. You need to drill those holes so you can get 3 small allen bolts in the factory hood bulge.

    Too many hahahaha
If you don’t use the provided nut clips you re-use the plastic ones I believe. This would eliminate the need to drill out the 3 huge holes. Well 2 I guess because you still need to run the wire from the light bar. Someone please feel free to chime in on this.
