Maverick 1250. Actually found a shop that has one available. Don’t even have to wait for it to be built. :muscleflexing:

Man that is awesome! It came down to that and my Yoder YS640. I went with the Yoder because I found one somewhat local and could take home that day and the competition cart. Those are a really nice smoker. I think you will really like it. A level up compared to many, that is for sure! I use mine 2 to 3 times a week for anything and everything. Made smoked pot roast and rotisserie chicken on the Yoder yesterday

Definitely looking forward to it. Pitts and Spitts is local to me, so that gave it an edge. If I have any issues, it’s an easy drive to get it handled.
Been using a Pitt Boss for about a year now. I like it, and love the ease of a pellet grill, but the Pit Boss does have issues. Inconsistent temps being the main one. I have a huge fluctuation across the grill. Right side runs way hotter than the left, and the overall temp just doesn’t stay as steady as it should.

I went by Pitts and Spitts the other day, and they told me it would be at least mid-December before I could get one. I stopped by one of their dealers, and they had one on the floor, so I pulled the trigger. They offered to deliver it to my house and set it up for free, so it’s scheduled for Thursday.

Big damned expense, but from everything I’ve read it should be the last cooker I ever have to buy. I’ve gone through probably half a dozen grills in the last 20 years. None of them ever last more than a few years, no matter which brand I buy. Pitts and Spitts has a ten year warranty on the barrel, and better than average warranty on the rest of the parts. On top of that, after twenty years they’ll refurbish the grill completely for free. Not sure I’ll ever take them up on that, but that’s pretty solid.

How long have you had your Yoder? I liked those also, but kept reading about premature rust issues with them.

I have owned probably 30+ grills, haha. Owned a handful of pellet smoker. I also have owned Pit Boss, Traeger, Rec Tec, and Yoder. The Rec Tec was a clear step up from the rest. It was a very good pellet smoker in the mid-range of about $1,000. Brother in law has it now and he uses it once every couple weeks.

The biggest difference in the more expensive models is overall weight, metal thickness, and heat consistency. My Yoder weighs about 500 pounds and metal is thick. It holds temps within about 15 degrees. If I set it at 250, it stays 240-255 or so. The Traeger and less expensive grills struggle in the cold and would fluctuate between 220-280.

Pitts n Spitts are awesome pieces. The Yoder took my cooking to the next level and use it for so many things! Yours should also!

Smoked ribs for 4 hours at 225 plus a smoke tube full of pellets. Then butter honey and B sugar and wrapped tight and in the oven to finish for 2 hours. Super tender and juicy; needs more rub next time but I’m getting there

I forgot to post here, but last Sunday I smoked some ribs for a guy from one of the local 4x clubs. He transported some headers from Houston, on his way back home, we met at a gas station and did a swap! He said they were great!!!
