Paint it. Sounds like you take pride in your ownership. You'll be happier with a clean truck.

    Congratulations.

I'm in a somewhat similar situation as you were in and I'm going to take a whack at paining a few spots using touch up paint from this website: Touch Up Paint and accessories | AutomotiveTouchup

It's good to know if/when I screw it up I can get my truck professionally painted at a reasonable price.

Probably a little late to mention it, but a good paint correction and a ceramic coating can do wonders for something like this.
They basically cut down through the clear coat and get all the imperfections out and then buff the crap out of it and then put a coat of ceramic on it. I had a black 2003 SL55 that had a lot of really bad spots on the paint, swirls and scratches, including sap and paint overspray, and just 16 years of neglect. Three stages of cutting, a thorough buffing and two ceramic coats and it looked better than it did when new.

Call around to detail shops and ask about paint correction, but like was mentioned earlier, check their previous work and what they have in the shop. The higher quality of cars they work on usually equates to higher quality results.

took my ride to Lucid wraps here in Golden Colorado , they printed a Carbon fiber print with paint matching threads with gloss finish. Using Dewey Avery 3D paper . for about $300 dollars. and don't get from Amazon. if you rip it you have to buy more . if they rip it ,they just print more with no charge..

On a hunch, just bring it to a PROFESSIONAL detailer and ask him if he can correct the paint. Won't hurt to ask. They have cutting compounds that work wonders.

Assuming it can't be corrected, I would paint it. I speak from experience, I purchased a used Corolla XRS and the hood was a horror do to rock chips. I bothered me every time I looked at it. I paid to paint it. Money well spend. No more aggravation! :)

BTW: My XRS is a 2005 and has over 250,000.

From the pics....I'm guessing the clear was etched. Painting was your best option, and I'm glad you're happy with it. Follow the shop's directions on when you can either put a wax or sealant on....different paint manufacturers have different guidelines.
