    To all you CO boys...

Have guys installed your own audio?
If not, who would you recommend?
Would anyone be willing to help me if I were to do it myself? I'm not an expert with auto audio but know my way around home audio.

    To everyone else...
I've read so many of the threads on here I've confused myself. What's your link to your audio build or what you would recommend if I'm looking for a solid crisp sound good bass and highs?

If you didn't build exactly what you wanted please tell me what your ideal setup would look like.

If not links to your build then help me sort through all the current posts and link me to something great.

    TIA

@TruckyTruck is a good resource for audio installs.
I do not know of any good install places... just the standard best buy or car audio.

What are you planning on doing Mark?

For just speaker and head unit I would just do myself. When it comes to custom subs and amps....I might have it done by a reputable company.

I did a google search of Denver Car Audio and some shops are rated pretty good.

I've had the local Car Toy's do my custom installs on vehicles and the family boat. When spending some big bucks on high end gear, I always use them and bank on their warranty. Have a $9k system on the boat, and one of the 3 amps took a dump last summer, not good as its my personal floating concert arena - made a phone call from the middle of the lake and they had their tech at my slip by the time I backed her in. He brought each amp type I had onboard, then identified the bad unit - and replaced it on the spot no questions asked.

If you get a higher end system, have it done professionally and get a warranty.

    Thanks for the replys!!

I've priced CarToys, the 4x4 shop I had do my lift, and a local guy her e in Breckenridge and all said similarly the same thing...new head unit, amp, speakers, and a sub box. Basically what I'm reading other guys on here have done. They were all over the map on pricing but I feel confident in capabilities of each.

I've replaced head units and speakers but they weren't of the caliber that are made now and with the bluetooth, mics, navigation, and other gadgets our trucks have and I want to make sure it's done right.

I want a sub box that fits behind the back seat of my DC so I don't lose kid room. I also don't want a $9,000 system. If I cold hit around $2000-$2500 I wouldnt feel any worse than I already to on how much I've spent recently;)

Im really just looking for a cleaner, more sophisticated sound, that'll thump and not blow out, and is kinda fun to play with in the dash!!!

Just to be clear, the $9k system is in a 40' Sea Ray - not a vehicle.

The point was if you're gonna get some high-end gear, have it done professionally and with whomever will back their work the best.

Oh I know! I wasn't implying anything negative. Just that I'm no baller that could pull that off:) I wish I could and that I had a boat. I'm not being a turd. I hope one day I get to come ride in that boat. Sounds badass!!

Thanks for the advice. If I go high end like that I'll certainly get it professionally done. Even if I don't go that high end I'll be getting it done right, and I dont trust myself other than easy installs.

If you ever get towards Fort Collins, feel free to hit me up - just bring some good beer.

Maybe this summer we should have a Front Range Tundra get-together up here. Spend part of the day on some trails, then out on the boat for the afternoon/evening, drop the hook in a cove and do some grillin' and tossing down a few cold ones. Or just skip the trails and have a bunch of cool Tundra's parked together at the lake and spend the day out enjoying the water...

I "accidentally" stopped in at Car Toys today and left my truck for an install. Oops!!

That 12 months "same as cash" deal was a little too enticing!

Damn that is a huge boat!

What do you tow that with? Probably leave it in the water?

Ya, it goes in once and comes out once - we've got a real nice slip. When it does move.....

It's either the marina's biggest unit mover....

    Way more than I needed:frusty:

Dont give me shit!! It's my mid-life crisis....I can do whatever I want now.
My wife left me with HER 3 kids in October so now I can buy toys instead of paying for her mistakes:D

I'll take pics and give you specs tomorrow when I have everything in front ofe and not 7 beers deep:

Focals all the way around the doors/tweeters
    JL amp
2 JL 10s buried under the backseat w/ bass knob

And proper wiring. I went with your suggestion and got it done properly. Knowing my limited skills I would have had all kinds of interference...if it even worked and didn't blow fuses.

Nice thing I've found (of many things) on this site is no one's here to judge. Well, except trucks and their goodies :amen:

That's some bad ass kit going in your truck, actually some of the nicest gear I've seen on here - you're going to love it! Focal, JL....no way to go wrong with that gear.

Can't wait to hear what you think of it after install as compared (as if possible) to the unit coming out.
