I’ve had this in my Amazon save for later for awhile. I wanted to know how accurate it is before spending money on it. I read you have to put in your vehicle weight then accelerate and slam on the brakes a few times and then it guesses additional weight based on that.

Ram has similar technology. The technician can tell how much weight you were towing and all the parameters before a failure. They deny warranty a lot due to this.

Not that I go overweight, but Ram is definitely off my list for a new truck now. Don’t want a warranty denied cause I drove 56 mph in a 55 zone while towing or some other ridiculous thing.

I think all mfgs will probably end up with something like this tough. I heard newer tundras monitor speed but never heard of warranty or insurance claim denied because of it.

Technically, all manufacturers have the means after 2012 (black box). My boss was told on his last service (2019 Ram 2500) that he needs to use tow/haul mode when towing, no matter the weight. The tech told him they deny warranty due to trans failures. My boss was skeptical and asked how they knew the weight he was towing. The tech got into the data logger and said “you must tow a rather large 5th wheel, and it probably weighs around 11300 lbs.”

The tech was off by 100 lbs. :eek2:
