Parts expensive. Replacement on a highlander isn’t terrible. But you do almost always have to align it afterwards. We do them all the time.

You mean the fipk version that provides a tube and a filter? Haven't seen that in forever but I have an air raid that does the same. No power gains, just noise. Haven't used that in 3 years probably. Will the 03 version fit on your truck? I actually have the early version and had to tee in a vacuum line.

05-06 throttle body is larger the airaid won’t fit because of this. Trust me I wanted one. Not for power, but cleaner engine bay and the sound. I run airaid tubes on the tacos. Love em

Your very humble, I don’t know if I’ve ever seen you mention a newer tundra, and I love that your active on the 1st gen area, unless you have multiple personalities/user names:)

In regards to the plastic drain thing, the wix filters i usually get; one of the 3 ears always ends up bending and not locking into the landing zone and not sealing. This is the adapter I found for the 4.0l in the 4runner. It makes things a lot easier I think, but maybe I’m doing it wrong haha

I might see about welding up a nice tube one day. You just have to keep diameters the same of maf readings can get thrown off. I like cleaner looking intakes that still draw cold air. Also, a little extra induction note never hurt

@empty_lord yeah the maf trickery is the one odd thing for K&N kits. I have always suspected that they force the truck to run slightly lean because they pull the maf up a bit with the foam spacer, but maybe thats just to correct the change from being on the tube rather than on the box.

Nope, no newer Tundra. Just my 1st gen Tundra and her 2nd gen Highlander. Each one the last year of its generation.

Its more like a hot air, yeah I ran it for a few years. Gets a little better mpg and makes wiked noises but I'm not convinced it makes tangible power increases.

Mine is not carb compliant, I had to go back to stock for smog checks. Only takes 15 minutes to swap.

Well talked to Toyota today about my rear wheel seal leaking. Pretty much sorry but a 1 year warranty on it no matter what, especially since your truck is old.

So current plan is dump some ATP Reseal in it, slap some new brake shoes in it before inspection, and let next summer me worry about it.

Yeah I thought that was odd. Which is why I went with Airaid instead. Plus I lucked out and found it for like $75 on ebay I think

I went down that road myself. I have the intake tube from the K&N that goes into the factory airbox. I stopped running the k&n filter because I could see visible dust in the tube that wasn't getting filtered out. I'm running the AEM DryFlow now and it's way better.

I even have dyno results between the two filters. You're better off with the AEM filter just for dirt's sake.

The pink is the K&N and the Orange is the AEM

I worked for Northstar/SPT back in the late 2000’s. Worked a couple Dew Tours at NStar and out in CO and enjoyed backstage X games passes. You a rider/employee for BB or SPT?
