Where do you all source your utility trailers? I am in the market for a single axle 10-14 ft trailer for an upcoming move as well as dump runs and house projects. Seems to me like Craigslist, FB marketplace and offerup all have beat to crap rusted out or homemade trailers for about the price of new. I hate to spend more than I have to but am not opposed to buying new if trailers really hold their value as well as it seems. I am open to suggestions.

10-14 foot overall length or bed/box length?

Bed length. I would buy something bigger than that but trying to stay around $2k ideally less.

I have found several on Ebay actually?
I find one and make direct contact with the seller using "Mouth Words" and haggle them down or learn enough to know that I don't want that trailer after all and it has worked amazingly well for me!

I found one brand new custom build that some idiot even paid money down for but then walked away and it was a little bit of an odd build for most but Perfect for me really and I love it!
It is a Cheap Georgia Trailer too so I got it from the Factory on quite a road trip and it was some experience for sure.
I don't know of they have similar makers in the PNW but I would find out if I were you as they can truly be pretty nice for the low georgia price if you research the maker beforehand of course.

I found another that was an 8 trailer build by a huge semi trailer manufacturer that made 8 tiny trailers exactly like they were 53' dry box rigs for trailer shows and again it is a really unique and crazy overbuilt little trailer too!

Then I found my Featherlite on CL using a nationwide search and just bugged the seller until he relented and I got the trailer at the price that I wanted to.

I think a lot of sellers are full of crap and I just do not accept what they say as the bottom line and if it is meant to be it will work itself out I think.

Not sure if you have a BigTex dealer near you, but that's what I went with after a ton of research. Pricing was fair, I think I gave right at $1700 for a 14' single axle with warranty. I seriously considered used, but I have seen so many trailers be abused that I was a little hesitant to go that route.

I will say this - if you are wanting 14', go with at least a 16'. You will never really have too much trailer, but it's easy to not have enough.

After waiting until the last minute before we move I finally broke down and bought a brand new 12 ft Big Tex. At $1450 out the door I couldn't beat the price even buying used. Seems to be a very well built trailer and I have a warranty and the piece of mind that it hasn't ever been abused or over loaded.

I went through the same mess of searching. The Georgia built trailers are cheaply built. My neighbor has one and jts falling apart. I had a custom built 6x12 single axle enclosed trailer. It was $1100 more than the cheap trailer but well worth it.

Those Big Tex trailers are pretty solid.

A buddy of mine has one that I've used a couple of time now and, if I were to ever buy one, I think that's what I'd be looking at. He's had his for as long as I can remember. Probably going on 20 years, or close to it, now. Still solid.

Big Tex builds good trailers. We are fortunate in Texas that alot of trailers are made here (Big Tex, Kearney, Diamond C, Performance etc...)

Here there are tons available for sale, or can be custom ordered.

Nice trailer for very reasonable. I’m actually pretty shocked.

Word of advice...don’t line it out to anyone. I see people overload single axle trailers all the time.

Seen this gem the other day heading to a buddies house. Think this guy would overload your trailer?

I guess. Using a Nissan Frontier probably isn’t the best tool for the job though.

I have a trailer that was built in Georgia twenty years ago. Last year I re-packed bearings, (original wheel bearings) replaced tires (general maintenance) and wiring due to it being stored in the woods in which rodents found tasty.

I have a 12 foot tandem axle Big Tex trailer. Works great. I would recommend checking along the edge of the expanded metal on the ramp. I've noticed they didn't use many tack welds along it and it has started to lift from having my SxS roll up the ramp. There is also not any paint between the expanded metal and the ramp edges, so it is developing some surface rust. Just something to check and see if you need to nip it in the bud. You've got yourself a nice trailer.

It’s funny you say that my wife and I were just talking last night about how no one is going to be borrowing it. I’ve seen way to many people severely over load small trailers.

I bought a carry on 6 x 12 with side and rear ramps in 2007 for $1350 at TSC. Still use it. Would take on long trips to ontario w family. A weld broke on the frame that I had to have re done and the gate latch springs broke and now I just use a tractor pin instead. Had two flat tires on same trip and both tires failed due to valve stems failing.
I'm always putzing with lights to make sure they work ahead of a long trip. For as old as it is it has served me well. But I'm sure I could tell the difference if I bought a nicer one. If you can afford more I'd look but if not, wont be end of the world if cant get top of the line.

Now I have to replace springs and axle but that's my fault for trips to gravel pit.

I used to work at a winery and we had a couple Big Tex equipment trailers that got worked hard without any issues. I am glad I was able to find one for the deal I did.
