Thinking about upgrading to a 2021 Limited. Have a 2016 SR5 now. I have friends that have advised me that the Limited will have trouble towung my 6000 lb. boat/trailer. Anyone have any advice either way?

The only issue I could see would be the lack of a transmission cooler, easy to add one. I put Nicks cooler on my 2020 Limited and toe my 4500lb boat and truck full of stuff, tranny pan temps rarely top 200*. And that's at 75+ mph A/C on 90* ambient temperature. The other thing I did was add SumoSprings to the rear, good to go.

Define trouble... you shouldn’t feel any difference between your 2016 and the 2021. Your payload/towing capacities on the 2021 will be a couple hundred pounds less and you lose the ambient ATF cooler but actual towing experience (assuming you’re still running P rated tires) should be nearly identical. As stated above, you can add the cooler if ATF temps are a concern. PLENTY of threads/posts on that.

Agree that the only thing that might be an issue on the newer Limited is lower payload. What's the tongue weight on your boat trailer fully loaded and what do you, your family and all the gear you put in your truck weigh?

I have a 2020 Limited and without the cooler got my 5700# trailer up the grape vine going 45. I have since installed the cooler just for peace of mind.

Thanks to all. Never thought of the Transmission cooler.
