Has anyone tried 295/70r18 size tires on the OEM spare wheel?

I’m getting my 2021 Pro in a week and a half and the first thing on the docket is new tires. I’m going with the 295/70r18 Nitto Ridge Grapplers and was planning on buying an extra to throw on the spare. I’ve done some research on here and found that it is possible to get it to fit under the bed where the stock spare is, but what I can’t find is whether the OEM spare wheel’s offset could cause problems.

for example, if the front wheel gets a flat and I have to put the spare on, will it rub the UCA? I’m planning to keep the TRD wheels so I’m just wondering if I need to buy an extra one of those to use for the spare or if the OEM spare wheel is ok.

    thanks all!

edit: I ended up ordering an extra TRD wheel for less than $500 shipped so I guess my question doesn’t really matter anymore, but feel free to answer in case it helps anyone in the future!

I have that size as my spare and it fits. But I run 1.25”bora’s too.

thanks! I added an edit to my OP. I ended up ordering an extra TRD wheel and will use that as the spare. That way I don’t need to worry about it at all and will have a fully functioning spare if I ever need it.

If a front tire goes, move the spare to a rear tire and put the rear tire on the front. No need to sweat offsets and all that junk (and certainly no need for a $500 spare rim!).

yeah I’m thinking about returning the TRD wheel especially since I thought it was the Pro wheel and it’s not. It’s just the normal TRD wheel which I think is actually the same with different branding. Looks identical, feels the same, etc.

Either way I’m probably gonna return it and just go with the stock spare

the TRD wheel I bought is BBS-forged as well. Looks identical to the Pro wheels I have except instead of “Pro” it says “TRD” and the part that says “BBS-Forged” is in black instead of silver.

All other measurements are exactly the same. Not sure about weight though. Either way I don’t plan to keep it

Interesting. I did not know the newer TRD wheels were also BBS.

You will have to cut the guide brackets off for it to fit. I have a used 295/70R18 under my truck.

If you have beefy shackles (I have total chaos similar to OEM) it may hit the shackles.

I’ve seen that some people were able to bend them and get it to fit. But we’ll see I’m not sure haha

but yeah I have the OEM TRD pro suspension so I don’t have shackles to worry about right?

    Lots of shenanigans.
How'd you mount those pod lights on the back? Trying to get some ideas.

Here’s how they’re mounted to the factory location.

I tried bending them with no luck. Most either drill out the rivets or cut off the bracket.
Shouldn’t have any worries about the shackle unless you install an aftermarket shackle.

Did you just route the wiring to the front or something?

The blacked out wheel is still the trd pro wheel. Slightly tweaked as an available wheel for 2020. The pros still run the wheel with the silver lettering. I bought the all blacked version with center caps that are all black except for the TRD logo. The pros come with a red color band around the cap, mine is black. Otherwise it is exactly the same wheel and center cap. Forged, lightweight, color, etc. just says TRD on wheel opposite BBS Forged, and the lettering is blacked, not silver. And it’s a few bucks cheaper.
