I have a crew max with 5.5’ bed. Looking for recommendations on a decent bed cover that’s not $1K or more...

I had an Undercover on my DC and really liked it and I think they are around $600?

They are simple but rugged and do not try to be something that they are not!

Also easy to remove by myself and strong enough to stand on too.

Rugged Cover II tri fold! Absolutely love mine. It doesn’t allow water in and can easily be taken on or off in a minute.

    Alot of them
Undercovers for the 3rd gen trucks are around 900-1000. Much more expensive than the 07-13 Undercover.

I like my Truxedo lo Pro Rollup cover. Even comes with a lifetime warranty which is an added bonus. I've had it on my crewmax for 6 years and have not had any issues with it.

How heavy is it roughly? I’ve got a Bakflip MX4 right now, but just got a high seat to throw in the bed for hunting so I need something without rails since I’ll be taking the cover on/off on a monthly basis going forward. This and Extang are on my radar.

    • What are you likely to use it for? Weather proofing? Security?
    • How often will you need to have it out of the way?
    • Are you concerned about taking up any bed space?
For me, I didn't need it to be 100% waterproof or secure (I rarely have anything of true value in the bed). I also need to have the bed completely open at times (trips to Home Depot or to get mulch, dirt, etc).

For me, the answer was a roll up cover. I shopped around for a while and would have been happy with a number of different brands (I think). Ended up with a Gator from Amazon that someone returned so I got it for under $100. So far, I've been very pleased. Especially for the price! Initially I was looking at Diamond Back because I liked the look, but I'm so glad I didn't invest that kind of money for something that really wouldn't have worked with my needs!

Maybe 45 lbs....I will say it is extremely easy for one person to remove and install and both take about a minute.

I just installed this tyger roll up cover on my crew max bed. I don’t store anything of value in my bed so for $200 on Amazon and simple installation it was a no brainer

I have the tri-fold version. This is my second Tyger cover and have been very happy with them and pricing has been great!

I wouldn’t have minded spending alittle more for there trifold soft or hard cover. The reason I like this one is that when you roll it, it doesn’t block your view in the back. Some of the trifold do.

I had one of the Tyger roll up on my '07 DC, and it was much drier than my '14 Toyota Tri-Fold cover. I don't expect perfection, but was definitely a noticeable difference between the Tyger and the Toyota Tri-fold. If I ever replace my OEM, I will definitely consider the Tyger again.

No they don't lock, it's fabric with a couple cross supports. You do have to open the tailgate to roll up the cover.

I just watched the video I like it...did you have to put that extra foam on the tundra?

I did, and it helped fill the gap in the front since the top of the front panel sits lower. I attached the foam to the cross piece on the cover.

It doesn’t lock but if you lock your tailgate it can’t be opened. It’s almost like a vinyl type of material with pretty strong supports going across but not meant to hold anything on top. I’m sure it can handle the weight of snow though. It does have a foam you add but the side tracks have the foam already attached. It’s a really good purchase for $200.

Tyger was on my short list along with Gator. They're almost identical, so I went with the cheaper price at the time (they both run sales so they alternate which is cheaper). The Truxedo is almost identical in design - the main difference is the material. The Truxedo has a nice matte finish - almost like a canvas. I wanted that, but didn't want to pay the premium to get it.

Check Amazon Warehouse for deals. That's how I ended up getting mine. It was less than $100 because it was returned by someone else. The description said there was a surface mark, but I still haven't been able to find it and it's been on for over a month!
