@Darkness hit the nail on the head, and thats what I was trying to say, but was tired and not using big boy words.

If you've got the chargers, and batteries. Tool only.

Thats how I buy them now after my first couple of starter kits.

Edit: I will usually browse through the local Rural Kings inventory first before buying online. Occasionally they have a "Buy this tool, and get a battery" managers special.

Pull up the price of the tool online, and big gurll to check prices and if they are close in cost get a free battery.

My local Rural king is usually within a few dollars of Big Gurlll

Get the High Demand Battery ($100+) which ever company you go. You’ll need it for Mamba. You could use the lesser demand batteries, but you’ll be glad you spent the extra as they last WAY longer and provide more POWWAA!

@Tundra2 if you had a choice between the two Impacts and could only choose one, would you go Stubby or Mamba?

I agree with this 100%. Back around labor day Home Depot had a sale on a rapid charger, 12.0 HD battery, and a 8.0 HD Battery?

$200. The price of one 12.0 HD.
I would go with the stubby all day long. Its smaller, and more maneuverable. I use it almost daily while the Momba rarely gets broken out.

The stubby is what I reach for first. I use it to tear down things like chainsaws, weed whackers, the mule, the lawnmower, etc. Super handy in my experience.

I just wish the M12 platform had aftermarket belt hooks like the M18 platform does. These are superior to the ones that come with the drills, impact drivers, and other tools similar to that.

Ye. Sometimes I wish I had a Stubby.

I do have the little Impact Driver for the light duty, but sometimes wish I had a Stubby for tight spots. I’m still glad to have Mamba.

I'm glad I have the Momba also. Its like a gun. I'd rather have it, rarely need it versus not have it, and struggle.

I have the ¼ hex driver for in house jobs. Work bought us one of these for stuff at work. Variable speeds like the momba, and the stubby. Does well with adapters for sockets. Mostly.
    Link.

I chose to buy the ⅜ stubby because it had the same torque specs as the ½ stubby. I figured if I needed to go bigger/smaller I could buy an adapter kit like this.

    Mid-size stubby for the WIN!

Ye. I have that 1/4” hex driver. Use the 1/4” to 3/8” drive bit adaptor on it and even use a 3/8” to 1/2” adaptor socket on top of that for putting stuff back on in a zip. The Wrenches finish of the rest. I mostly used the 1/4” on the timing belt job except for the Crank Bolt. Light a speedy.

I’ll look into this 3/8” Impact Stubby for future use. Probably the best all a-rounder first time tool paired up with the HD Battery.

Does the stubby have enough power for most automotive work? I'd like the smaller size but want to make sure I can bust off an axle nut if I need to.

I've never needed to bust an axle nut, but I have used it on the mule for lugs. I haven't used it on anything automotive for lug nuts.

    Reached for the momba

Yeah. Momba is the way. She is weighty. The only complaint I have is the reverse/forward switch is easy to be knocked out of placement. Reviewers got that one right. Be best if it was relocated to the top of the gun.

I might get blasted for this, but I bought my Milwaukee batteries off craigslist. Probably from a dude who either stole them of got them from a flooded home depot. Came in the packaging and was half the price of a new one. I've been using it weekly for 3 years and no issues.

I got my little dewalt impact wrench and drill from a guy who got it as a gift and hardly used it (the impact wrench is weak and basically worthless for any car stuff, but good around the house).

I just noticed these Toyota pads I ordered are labeled A,B,C,C....Meaning, one says A, one B, etc. I have no idea what I'm supposed to get out of that, if anything.
