I have an Alpine ILX-W650 installed and everything works fine except the HU won't automatically switch to the backup camera when I put it in reverse. The camera works just fine as when I tap on camera the image comes up. The reverse sensing wire is connected as per the wiring guide. I had Crutchfield do the wiring harness connections.

The only thing I added was a bypass for the parking brake. I have the wiring for the bypass connected to the Alpine wiring and not the wiring going to the factory connectors. The camera settings aren't much but the rear camera is selected and I do have the video cable connected to the rear camera input. The camera is powered by a switched 12v connection as I wanted the option to always be able to switch to the camera if I desire to.

Anyone else see this issue when upgrading the headhunt?

I beleive the camera is 6 volt input, not 12.

I have an aftermarket camera (Master Tailgaters) I got off of Amazon. It's a 12v.

I know what the issue is but don't know where to find a reverse signal to tap into. Apparently one of the connectors the PAC unit has that is supposed to connect to the factory wiring isn't connected as I don't have that particular connector behind the radio.

Got it working. I was able to find the reverse signal in a wire harness taped up behind the radio. It’s in the off-white/light gray harness. I was able to open the flap and tape down a wire to the row that was energized with the gear shifter in reverse.

As an alternative you can look in the rear view mirror:monocle:
