Here's my experience using Meguiar's Heavy Duty Headlight Restoration Kit (G2980) that I got at WalMart. It took about 2 hrs to complete both headlights & fog lights.

Hardest part was applying the UV sealant at the end. Hard to make sure I had enough but not too much that it runs. Now to see if I make it a year with clear headlights

Before pics don't show how badly fogged and pitted the lights are.

After hand sanding with 1000 grit. This step took the longest. Drying off the headlight helped me find the spots that still needed work. You can see the left side of the headlight still had some original film.

After hand sanding with 3000 grit. Looking better!

Very timely post. I'm looking at this for my wife's car.

All of this was done with just the kit?

Wow! That is a huge difference. Nice job. I'd be interested to see how long they stay clear.

wonder if you reapplied the polish every couple of months if that would work to keep the fog away?? Would definitely be easier than redoing the whole process

I'm impressed with it. My 2012 is just starting to get hazy headlights. Might have to look into this. Thanks for the post.

@Triton19X2 - I hope to "maintain" the clarity. It will be an experiment at first to see how well the UV sealant keeps the shine.

@Tipsovr - If your headlights are at the "fog only" stage you may only need a kit with polish and UV sealant. Not sure who makes that kit, maybe someone on the forum knows?

    LED headlamps/fogs; interior footlamps.
Can also take to a paint shop, they'll do their magic to restore it and then apply clear coat so it lasts for years, just a though....

Great post. I have had great luck with this product on my 07.
Not the products fault but the headlights needed another restore again about a year later. I waxed them a few times as well.
    I hope yours last longer.

    Curse you Perry the Platypus!
Looks good!!!! I used the Sylvania kit a little over a year ago and was please with the results. You ain't kidding about the sealant. Too little or too much and you're redoing the process all over again. I think I'll go to a pro next time around and pay the extra but these kits do work. Good job!

I tried a clear coat (meguiars) with a very high rating on my wife's Lexus. More orange peel than I wanted. Use aerospace 303 after every wash or two weeks. Decent results.

Took 2 years, but made it back with an update. The headlights did start fogging again, but definitely not as bad.

Pulled out my kit and did a touch up. I started with just the polish, but found using the 3000 grit pad was a quicker/easier way to remove the remaining UV sealant. Then back to polish and finally applied UV sealant.

Spent about 10 to 15 minutes per headlight. Interestingly I got the UV sealant perfect this time. I think it was me being in a hurry, spread a generous amount on, and didn’t try to touch it up.
