Got it, basically you spray the wax/sealer on while wet and then dry. I just reapplied instabead last weekend, but I did it dry.

To get back on track with products, after I did the Cquarts, I applied reload twice, six months apart. At six months it was pretty much worn out. I traded a bushel of oysters to a friend for an instabead application. It did well, and much easier to apply than reload. I scored a 200 ml supply of instabead concentrate from another friend in KS in exchange for a couple of bottles of BBQ sauce. I'm impressed with it. Advertised as a 3 month lifespan, but it seems like I could have gotten more our of it. The concentrate is cheap enough that I might try just using it as a drying aid every few weeks.

My truck has cquartz and I found reload to start to fail around 3 months and that’s with all the other stuff I wipe my truck down with such as elixir and spiked punch. Griots 3-1 on top of cquartz shows no sign of failing I’m at 2 1/2 months so we will see. I won’t wait 6 months but I will try and be patient enough to see where it stands at 3.

oysters bbq sauce I gotta have something to trade in the arsenal.

I’ve also used 3-1 as a drying aid and it worked well but I made sure it wasn’t in direct sun or to hot which can be tough to find in south Florida

So last week I tried to see if I could skimp on the IronX step (didn't want to spend the $ and wait for it to ship from Amazon... took 4/5 days) with my wife's 2017 Explorer and just Clay with Speed Shine but it became more and more evident that no realistic combination of elbow grease, hard claying, buffing with NuFinish was going to remove some of the tiny bonded splat/dots of stuff, tar, etc... from part of the roof, rear tailgate, and lower portions of doors. IronX arrived yesterday and I sprayed it on this morning.... I definitely saw it go to work with the discoloration all over those spots. Although I was surprised I had to use aprox 1/3 of the bottle to cover the explorer (maybe I went overboard).

So there is no doubting it seemed to work although I still see some spots remaining on the tailgate that make me wonder if the claying with speed shine will now be able to remove those spots that it wouldn't last week?

Is IronX needed on a 5 week old Tundra with 1600 miles on it? Or can I just wash, clay and apply the Griots Ceramic 3-in-1?

Ya, sadly just trying to clay the iron off doesn't work and who knows what horrors you're inflicting on your clear coat if you just try to scrub... There don't seem to be any shortcuts. Although if anyone figures something out which actually works let me know!!!

I believe that a thorough decontamination is needed on any new vehicle. You can wash, clay and apply the Griots 3 in 1, but the de-iron step is important...IMO. If the spots you're seeing is tar/road grime, Iron-X will do nothing for them. It reacts with and breaks down iron deposits. Prior to your contact wash, go after those areas with some Tarminator, Citrol or even a strong dilution of your all purpose cleaner. Additional claying may also get those, depending on the aggressiveness of your clay. I have two brands, Griots (not real aggressive) and 3M Perfect-it (more aggressive).

I'm a little nuts with this stuff....so try and take that into consideration when reading my rantings

Definitely needed on brand new vehicles as well. The paint collects a ton of crap from being in railyards and sitting in lots on the side of the freeway. Some of the worst ones I’ve done were relatively new.

As much as I love OPC, I've gotten away from using an APC on interiors. P&S makes a very good interior cleaner (Xpress) for minor wipedowns, and I use Griots Garage Interior Cleaner for anything more.

Ive started to just use Shine Supply Eco-Shine for the most part. I use Clean n Shine when I want a little more gloss on the interior.

yeah i've noticed Shine Supply seems to get recommended a lot here so I'm going to try their tire/wheel cleaner and interior cleaner to start.

HAHAHAHAHA.....I remember Simoniz! Classic Car wax too. I use Collinite 885 Heavy Duty Paste Fleetwax on my boat and it reminds me of the old Simoniz.

I thought I was the only one :). I think it is because of the long winters. Once Dec comes along, you won't get to detail again (unless you have a heated garage) until April or May. I find its durability is what makes me use it. Plus the shine is great.

AMMO also claims it lasts a long time: https://www.ammonyc.com/product/ammo-reflex-pro-pre-sale/
My results were not as long as claimed. But that may be the way I applied it.
