I actually agree. I think the TRD Pro is the best looking truck on the road right now. Maybe there is or will be an aftermarket grill that will replace Chevrolet with just a bow tie.

For 2021 there is now a Z71 Sport option that changes the chrome into body color. I must say with this option its looking really good. Can get a mid level LT Z71 Sport for a lot less than a GMC AT4, for those of you that dislike chrome as much as I do.

I saw that. It does look sharp. I do not do much modification but it might be retrofitted, I am sure the 2021 is exactly the same.

Are we talking Gas or Diesel? Because that changes my answer.

Gas I would go with the either Ford 7.3L or GMC 6.6L

diesel I would go with GMC

I like gmc. I don’t care for the interior of the Ford and wouldn’t even consider dodge. Just my preference. My next truck will probably be a gmc 3500.

GMC, my brother has had a couple and they were decent trucks. I would suggest getting a 3500 as the cost difference is little vs a 2500. His 2020 AT4 3500 oil burner is a really nice truck and rides better than the 2500 Denali he had.

If you get the Cummins engine with the Allison transmission it would be the perfect diesel

I’d go Ford or GMC. Basically picking off of looks because I would be naive and assume I can get 200k+ trouble free miles out of any of the new diesels.

    Flux capacitor!
I’ve had my 2020 GMC 2500 AT4 diesel for just over a year now. I’ve been very happy with the truck! I still miss my last four Tundras, they were all very dependable trucks.

There are features on the GMC that I have really enjoyed having. The proximity remote feature is very handy. I can have my keys in my pocket and open my truck tailgate or door handle when I’m next to my truck without having to touch the remote. The heated steering wheel is very nice on cold days. The head unit does allow to adjust many settings on the truck to your own preferences. But all these features come with a hefty price tag. Going from a Tundra that is in the $40-$50k price to the diesel pricing of $65-$80k for the premium trims levels is a hard pill to swallow. I have been very impressed with the ten speed Allison transmission.

I’m still very excited to see what Toyota will release for the next generation of Tundra.

Would be a tough choice for me between a Ford Tremor 250 and a GMC AT4 2500.

The Tremor looks amazing, and the 6.7L is a monster.

But the AT4 is a gorgeous truck, and the Duramax with a 10-speed Allison is a great combo.

I also feel the IFS on the GM’s rides much better than SFA on the Fords.

I had buyers wanting to hand me cash for more than i paid 2’years ago for my tundra. I had to say no for now bc i figure a
New sr5’is running $45-50k. A entry level gas 3/4’is $40kish. i may do a combined auto loan and keep the dam tundra!

A friend of mine is an equipment operator at an excavation/construction company. The company fleet is GM. The y can’t keep front end parts in a Ram and they are against Ford for reliability reasons. They’ve had the best long term luck with GM diesel HD.

I determined its all subjective, tough tough choices. Toyota needs a
    1500hd!

the value on Tundras is out of
Hand which is good/ bad. Good time
Resale, bad if i hate the domestic Hd market
    Ill be paying more
Than low $40s k to get
Another tundra, and im too poor to afford to keep both.

I pulled the trigger today and ordered a new HD truck. Getting a GMC 2500 AT4 with the gas engine. Couldn’t fit the diesel upgrade into the budget but the gas engine should be plenty for my travel trailer. Couldn’t bring myself to trust RAM. Fords warranty % is really out of control. The Chevy front end styling is something I just can’t get used to. Really like the styling of the AT4 and based on my research it should be more reliable than the average domestic. Thanks everyone for your feedback!

Congrats, those are sweet looking trucks. I did the same a few weeks ago except I went the Chevy route also with the 6.6 gas engine. Love mine so far! The 6.6 is a great engine!

Just heard today that my GMC 2500 AT4 will be arriving this week! Planing to drive 400 miles to Boise next weekend to get it.

    :yay:

This forum is so much better than the GM ones. They really lack the interactions and personality of this one, overall dull with minimal updates. You can go a couple weeks without looking at it and not miss much. Even though I won’t have a Tundra anymore I still might check this more than GM.

I definitely will post with updates comparing the two trucks. We have a week long camping trip just over a month from now, very interested to see how it tows my travel trailer. Fingers crossed that it will be somewhat close to my Tundra in reliability!

I almost made the change from tundra to 3/4 ton. I think about it every time I go camping and wish i had a full size length bed and 3/4 ton capacity. Yes tell us how that gas 6.6 goes in that gmc body, its
The only body ill get for Gm, silverado new body is something undesirable for me.

I am right at 10,000 miles in my 2020 2500 HD w/6.6 gas. I wanted to give it time before making any judgement or opinions of my truck and engine. So far, I could not be impressed more. It really fills the gap for people towing in the 6k to 12k range. Perfect for people pulling travel trailers with increased payload that do not want to mess with a diesel. If I was pulling over 10k pounds a good bit, I would still go diesel. It really is a jump up from the 6.0 gas. I have averaged 14 MPG over the life of the truck in mixed driving and towing. My tundra I averaged 15.6 in same conditions. Both are verified as I chart every mike in Fuelly.

I will post a more detailed write up later, but the engine is super quiet, really smooth, and a great runner. To compare to the Tundra, the engine is completely quiet and no upper valve train noise that the Tundra is known for. It is quieter in the cab also. Transmission is tried and true and smooth as silk behind the 6.6. Hate to say it, but the shifting is smoother across the board. I had some hard downshifts in my Tundra and do not have that with the 2500 HD. I hear good things about the new 10 speed Allison, but I am not sure this truck needs something like that. Optional 4.10 gears would be nice and this thing would really yank anything.

I love Toyota and loved my Tundra. If my needs change in the immediate future I will be right back in one. However, I am absolutely loving my 2500 HD and it is on another planet when towing compared to the Tundra. Much safer to pull around the family and new travel trailer we just purchased.

I’ve had my GMC 2500 AT4 gasser for five weeks and 3,800 miles, posting an update of what I think of it so far:

What I like - It feels very solid while towing my trailer, the Tundra did ok but it is a definite upgrade. Although I haven’t run into a windy towing situation yet. Now that I have a 3,600# payload rating I can load whatever I want. The seats are a little more comfortable on the long rides but the Tundra was ok, can feel a difference after 11 hours with very few stops. The proximity remote and the buttons on the door handles and tailgate allows me to never have to take my key out of my pocket. Wireless Apple Car Play with wireless charging is amazing! All of the cameras around the truck for dealing with tight spaces, even a drone view from overhead and a hitch overhead. The cooled seat function seems to work better. Slightly better power but not a significant difference. Towing mode stays on after I restart the truck. Really like the exterior styling.

The not so great - It definitely rides like a HD truck, it’s smooth in most conditions but when it gets rough prepare for a beating. I must have done at least 15 miles of rough one way gravel roads in Redwoods NP, I believe my old Tundra would have handled it better. I have heard the switching out the Ranchos for Bilsteins can help, not sure to what degree. The upper side mirrors shake the same way my EBay tow did on my Tundra. Seat heaters and the fog lights have to be turned on each time you start the truck, although it does automatically heat the drivers seat and steering wheel when I use the remote start. The engine breaking can be a little too aggressive while barely breaking. Mileage seems be be amount the same as my Tundra with a 3” lift and 295’s, but it does weight at least a thousand pounds more. I wish the dash was more like the RAM, even the the version with 8” screen had a much better look overall and especially the center section.

Not sure what to think - Still getting used the the electric parking brake; between that, the column shift and the push bottom start I’m still adjusting to the change. The column shift creates more console room but makes any manual shifting somewhat awkward, won’t need to manual shift as much towing now but I do like the function for driving in the snow. The transmission seems to feel about the same and the are both 6 speeds, need to hook up my Scan Gauge to make it easier to monitor trans temps on the hills.

I'm assuming the console shift is still the same with a +/- button on it for this; keep it in D but just hit the - to limit how high of a gear you let it use, then use the + to go back up. It's slower than going into M mode but so much easier. Only time I used M mode is when I'm in deep crap and making sure I don't get the truck stuck.

How big is the fuel tank? The fact that you can only get a 24 gallon in the GM 1500s was just another reason for me to stay away from them.

I was never a Dodge fan until I got my Cummins, the Torque and MPG is incredible compared to a gas engine, plus the interior seems higher quality than my Tundra. With that said I went from an SR5 to a Laramie so it's an Apples to Oranges comparison.

It’s a 36 gallon tank. If I run it until the gas light comes on it takes 31 gallons to fill, same as my Tundra did.

I was very tempted by the RAM, it really is the best interior. My Tundra was a Platinum, the Laramie RAM is still a major setup up on interior quality. In the end I put my trust into GM over RAM and Ford. Will see how it goes, did the 5 year / 100k bumper-to-bumper warranty and the lifetime power train. Sounds like the GM HD interior redesign won’t be until 2023, would have been pissed for not waiting if it was 2022.
