It certainly shouldn’t be as potent as Laura or Delta.

I should begin to experience this storm right about 3 AM... I hear that it may become a nasty Nor'easter.

My weekend weather is going to be awesome.

    Screenshot_2020-10-28 7-Day Forecast for Latitude 33 96°N and Longitude 83 4°W (Elev 801 ft).jpg

Atlanta is expecting gusts approaching 70 mph before sunrise... schools are already closed for tomorrow.

Zeta just passed over our house. Lotta wind. Some rain. Roof is leaking and a shutter tore from its attachment. Haven’t filed a home owners claim before but I’m guessing it’s time.

Oh it's a fun process. Check to see what your hurricane or wind/hail deductible. Some people around me getting a rude awakening finding its 5% or so. Process isnt fun, but get lots of pics!

Allstate dropped us after Katrina. We had a $1000 deductible. Now it is 5%. The last few storms that have hit here, I have had to fix out of pocket...over $10k. What are we up to now...5 named storms making landfall in Louisiana this season.

A non-event here, some wind & a little rain... some trees and limbs are down, but not nearly as bad as what was forecast. Unless there is some wrap around effect, it's already blown out of here.

It passed through here while I was sleeping and didn't wake me up so it wasn't all that bad here.

When we built our house about 5 years ago, we knew not to insure with the big names because of everyone around us informing us of the terrible payback, experience, etc. We went through an insurance broker and as of now, been happy with who we have. We already knew our insurance deductible for wind and hail is 2% ($8900 for us). The other deductible is $1,000. The company is pretty good so far and has been paying us pretty well for everything and fairly quickly.

Ours is 2% for windstorm/hail, $500 for water/sewer, and $2500 for all other perils. I'm told this is about as good as you can get in SE Louisiana. Even at 2%, it could still be quite a bit out of pocket if the roof needs major work.

Look into Geico. The rate wasn't all that bad and they were 2%.

I'll take my 2% over my neighbor's 5%. He didn't know until the day before the storm hit us. So he's around $16k. I've got about a $25k roof alone, so I'll take paying almost $9k. But luckily since my adjuster did a good job, I'm doing some work myself and saving my deductible. Just having them do the roof, drywall, and paint. Still sucks regardless. haha

Came through the south side of Birmngham at 2:15 this morning. Shake, rattle and roll. Took the power out (still as I type) but no trees down. Grateful for that. Tundra smothered with leaf debris (motorcycles live in the garage) but otherwise she's fine.

good to hear y'all fared well. hopefully power back on soon! we were fortunate and only out for 2 1/2 weeks for laura, then another 3 days after delta. my sister in law had no power for 53 days! they have 7 children and she's pregnant, so she was always looking forward to work just to get some AC haha.

Don't even call your insurance company until you have a really good idea of what it will take to make you whole and will absolutely make a claim. Check your deductible in your policy. If you can afford to fix it on your own, or if the cost is less than your deductible then just pay for it yourself. A claim on your insurance is a black mark for up to 5 years, and could result in a rate hike that exceeds what you actually received from your insurance.

Yeah, Zeta brought some cooler temps. It's only 71 deg outside right now with a nice breeze.

I had a contractor take a look today and he doesn't think we would come close to reaching our deductible, so sounds like we'll pay out of pocket and avoid insurance.
