I quite like that one too, but a couple members have stated that it fits a bit to tight, can damage painted panels, and that it may require modification to fit without causing damage during normal body flex off road.

Winter is here. Be prepared, leave early, go slowly, and if you don't have to drive in it, don't.

This is just for I-80 in Wyoming. Stay safe out there.

At least you're "living" dead, right? That's a win on a Monday.

Growing up, yes. Pretty normal. We always had winter coats and snow pants on for Halloween when I was a kid. We would start getting snow that stuck in mid October and then we didn't see dirt until spring (mid March to April) but it's not as bad for as long the last few years.

Every few years we will get a real Wyoming winter, and all the transplants to the state lose their minds. They think it's the end times or something. :goingcrazy: Quite funny actually. I'd say in the last decade we've had 3-4 of the old school winters.

The general feeling for most people in Wyoming is that as long as the wind isn't blowing it isn't cold. I'll go out in shorts and a T shirt while it's 20 degrees out as long as the sun is shining and there isn't any wind. If you really wanna meet people that are tough in the cold, go to North Dakota. Humid and cold is a whole different animal, and I'm too much of a puss for that kind of stuff!

@Green Thunder here's a video from 2019. Apparently the guy in it is from Storm Chasers? Anyway it shows what the wind and snow do that winds up shutting down the whole I-80 corridor of Wyoming for days at a time. The real fun bit is that everything in the video is after the storm, because you couldn't really be out in it. Full blown white outs where you literally (correct usage of the word) cannot see 5 feet in front of you are not something you can really convey when filming.

Sounds pretty much like Alberta. They claimed the average high for last week was supposed to be 9C (about 50F) but I never once had a Halloween costume that didn't fit over a snow suit when I was a kid.

Yeah, first snow of the season always caused trouble. It's like people forget how to drive in winter conditions from one year to the next. Even worse when we get a fluke snow storm in the summer or spring because we will have people running down the interstate who have never seen snow before. Rarely ends well.

My other half recently visited Minnesota from SoCal. It was all good until it came time to drive the rental car back to the airport in snowy conditions. She grew up in Western Pennsylvania so her old driving skills came back into play. Someone in the oncoming lane "lost it" but the curb in the medial strip kept that car from hitting her. Yes, the first snow of the season can be treacherous for everyone.

Man, coming from someone that gets snow every 2-4 years, that looks amazing. But I've never had to shovel it or drive in it for months on end.

The entire Seattle region freaks out when we get snow...or even a prediction of snow. But it's a perfect storm (pun intended) all things considered. Lack of adequate snow plowing equipment coupled with all the hills around here and temps that rarely get into the 20's (so the snow melts under the tires and turns to ice) just makes for a bad situation. Add in a population that gets snow every few years and it's "my first snow drive" every time. If a safe speed on the highway is say 50mph in the snow, we'll still have asshats driving 75 and then clowns with chains on all four tires doing 30mph (sometimes in the left lane).

It is funny to talk to people that have lived in places like WY when we get snow. The "WTF is wrong with you people" is a fun conversation. True story...a few years ago I was driving around my neighborhood in a fresh dump of snow (9ish inches...a big amount here). I came up to a lady that was stuck in front of her house trying to go to work in her front wheel drive Ford compact car. Tires were nearly bald and she had spun them for so long there was nothing but ice under them. Back tires were still buried in snow; basically chocked in place. She was half out of her mind, so when I stopped and got out of the truck to ask if she needed help, she also got out of her car....leaving it in gear. She stood there looking at me with panic in her eyes while her car just stayed in place with the front tires spinning slowly on the ice. She started stammering about being late for work and I ignored me when I pointed out her car was still in gear. I was direct and borderline rude when I told her her car and tires won't make it and to turn off the car and go back inside for the day...
