An acquaintance had / has a couple Chevy Volts for his business. He had the roof of at least one of them wrapped in printed vinyl to look like a solar panel. Many were in awe.

I dated a hummer many years ago which continues to provide fond memories. :monocle:

It likely will in my lifetime, or at least close to it. Unless it does, gas engines aren't going anywhere. Without the type of tech I mention, electric vehicles will never catch on in Canada especially in the north.

Distances are vast up here, population centers are small, temperatures are fridgid in winter, roads are rough and poorly maintained, heavy loads and trailers are common, trucks and SUVs outnumber cars at least 2:1. Current electric vehicles are nothing more than an in town summer toy for the rich. I think I've seen one Tesla here. Such vehicles simply aren't remotely practical.

@speckmon, even if you have an EV with the range to get you to your campsite or hunting spot, can it sit there for a week without being charged then make it home again?

If I had tons of cash I’d buy the hell out of one. I’ve never had any issue with GM products and drove two to 400000km before selling. The features of the hummer ev are all bonuses to the 1000hp/11200lbs torque. Pretty sure 2% of us would ever use crab-walk (as rad as it is) but every-damn day I drove I’d be matting it from 0-60 in 3 seconds just cause I can haha. (PSA*matting reduces battery life*)

What years were the GM products you had no issues with? Don't get me wrong, I think they're least bad of the domestics; I just don't trust them much in the last 5 to 10 years.

I had a 2011 Sierra 1500 that was great. The 2010 - 2013 and then 2015+ Sierra gassers and diesels we use at work have been solid as well. The 2014's were iffy due to being a new engine and GM working out the bugs. A few family members and friends drive new Sierras and have very few problems, and what problems they have are pretty minor. If I couldn't buy a Tundra, I'd be back in a Sierra.

I'm sure I've said this before but if I had been able to find a new 2018 CC with the NHT max trailering package when I was finally ready to buy a truck (in July 2019), that's what I'd be driving. I said I was definitely not buying a 2019. While I was waiting on the 2020s to come down in price, I was reading about all the issues guys were having; it was the brake failures that finally pushed me over the fence and into a Tundra in November 2019. Now, if I'd waited until about March of this year, they were able to sort that out with two or three recalls. However, if I'd waited until then, I may not have wanted to buy a truck, even if I could find one. So I might have spent another summer camping out of the wife's Corolla. All in all, I'm glad I got my Tundra when I did and I hope my brother has no issues with his 2019 SLT.

I ran a 2004 5.3l cat-eye crew cab to 380,000km and beat the living piss out of it at work and play. Sold it in good working condition.
I also had a 2007 (classic body) 2500 HD crew cab long box GMC 6.0l that I ran up to 300 before selling in good working condition. And finally, the 2002 5.3l engine for my squarebody has 330km on it and it hauls major ass still

I also would drive a GM product if not for Toyota.

What does that even mean to my first comment? I never said anything for or against anything electric.

That said, I actually have the 100$ deposit on a cyber truck, but I wouldn't bring that shit into the woods.

Yeah, they were good 10-15 years ago. Unfortunately, their quality seems to be going downhill more and more the longer Mary Barra is in charge.

Agreed, I seem to like my lack of traction control era trucks.

I'm a bit disappointed my grandma sold my grandpa's 1993 K1500 to my cousin's loser boyfriend but, realistically, I don't need an extended cab long box truck.
