I have the same disorder. (See my for sale post here.) I suspect it’s because my dad does too, so it’s a “sins of the father” type thing I suppose. I’ve had 18 different vehicles in 24 years of driving, but I’ve made wise trades for the most part and enjoy buying and selling and trying to make good deals. Land Cruisers have been the vehicle I truly enjoy the most, and I’m always looking for the next best deal on.

A Valet Parking side gig might help you with that...

I tend to keep things far longer than i should. "That will be useful for something some day, i'm sure of it" is what i always tell myself. Hell, just last night i threw away a year's worth of golf digest magazines from 2000-2001 that i've kept through moving nearly ten times, because i swore i'd get around to incorporating some of the swing tips they contain.

Yet, somehow, my wife and i have gone through the cars. in 12 years of marriage, we've owned seven cars and two motorcycles. The three we have now (her Flex we've owned five years, my Tundra we've had three, and motorcycle i've only had since this June) are all paid off and we swear we're going to own as long as possible. I'll probably cave on the bike first, as i'm not too enthralled with the one i have. Her Flex has over 100k, so i'm sure it's a ticking bomb and she'll change her tune before too long when stuff starts breaking. But the Tundra, i will probably keep it forever.

HOWEVER, i totally get the sentiment OP and others here are voicing. if money was no object, i'd probably own 20 cars and at least half a dozen bikes. Vehicles are kinda like tools, each one is best suited for a specific purpose, and they all offer a unique driving experience.

I know what you mean, I feel the same way. It's a passion and hobby for me. I like all cars, trucks, fast, slow, low, lifted, old, new, etc, etc. I don't discriminate, I can appreciate them all. I've lost count to the number of cars I had. I don't buy the newest, latest and greatest car to showoff or try to keep up with the joneses. In fact, I have never bought a brand new car, I always buy used or ones that need work. I buy because I want to enjoy driving them and modify them. Once I get done or bored with them, I sell them and buy something else. I'm always on the hunt for a "new" car or project car. My Tundra is the one that I have kept for the longest. I keep telling my wife our next house is going to have a bigger garage/shop than the house itself. lol

It's been 14 years since I bought my first vehicle, and I am on purchase #11. The longest I've held on to a vehicle was almost 4 years, the shortest was not even long enough for the first payment to come through. My 2019 Tundra has been mine for 1 year 2 months and it's the longest I've had a truck since 2016. I'll be keeping this Tundra for a while though. I have spent the majority of my adult life single so I answered to no one about what I wanted. I have been with my now wife for 3.5 years, she has really tried to get me to see the economic value in paying off a vehicle early and holding on to it for a while. We are currently on track to pay off both our 2019 new purchase vehicles in less than 3 years.

I have always modified my trucks / cars as well. Had to make them my own and I have always enjoyed the random people saying, "wow I like that truck!". But I am definitely coming around to the notion about keeping one truck and paying it off.

Pretty sure The Woman and I have had an nearly identical conversation, only about guns. The gist of the conversation as I heard it was to buy more guns.

If I had the money, the dry storage space on site, and the money - then I would have a stable of special automotive vehicles.
