I want to black out the chrome on my 05 X-SP. If I do the grill, rims, and trim....the only shiny stuff left is the door handles. But I'm wondering how long it will stay on.
Has anyone done the handlese20235d87410a2e118424c957f7c3a75_1c6128dc80d5c0dad7766fe39cbff182eab5a95e.jpg, and how did it hold up with daily driving?

A few people have done it here and seem ok. But personally, I wouldn't do the handles. I wonder if you can buy new ones, it might be worth it. On 3rd gens, color matched handles, shipped are like $85. Not sure about 1st gens. @Roman ?

Plasti dip normally comes out with a rough texture even if starting with a smooth surface.

With about 7 passes of spray you should be ok if you cover the entire handle. As in wrap around the back side as well. If there is a clear break line where you grab that could cause it to peel back over time, but a good all around with 7 layers has held up perfect on mine.

I will give it a shot with a thick all-over coat.....but if it doesn't hold, I'll be ordering the painted handles. I think it would look odd to leave the chrome handles, with everything else black.

That will be better, but installing it perfectly might be tough. There are alot of curves.

I would have to pay someone who does it regularly. There are plenty of videos on YouTube about wrapping door handles, but it would be tough. I am having my bumpers wrapped Sunday. After shopping for vinyl myself, and getting a quote for someone to wrap it, I am not spending much more money just to have someone do it and not have to deal with it myself.

Plastidip was originally intended to provide a gripping surface for tool handles. You will be fine but it's going to be a huge pain in the ass getting behind the handle...
