I think testosterone, depending on age has a normal range somewhere north of 400, even for us old dudes (speaking for myself, of course :D) Matt a couple natural supplements that supposedly support testosterone levels are tribulus terrestris and lycopene.

So...………...got my latest blood work results back this morning from Lab Corp. After a radical prostatectomy procedure the indicated PSA serum level should remain undetectable at <0.1ng/ml. Up until now mine has been undetectable. It's now at 0.3ng/ml. Anything over 0.2ng/ml is an indication of a biochemical recurrence. I'm meeting with my urologist tomorrow to figure out what to do next. Mostly likely another Lab work in a month or two to see if the level goes up even more which wouldn't be good. suxs.

I hadn't been following your thread, Matt, but will add my prayers to the others. Believers know that prayer does not "work", but it is always effective.

I have had worsening BPH for maybe twenty years. I tried finesteride (Flomax) but couldn't tell that it did anything for me. For the last ten years, I've taken dutasteride (Avodart), and that does help. Couple of years ago, my GP added Flomax again (Flomax in the morning, Avodart in the evening :(). He said the combination was synergistic; maybe it helped a little. I just changed urologists, and it seems these new guys mostly watch PSA now until you can't pee anymore. No more DREs for me it seems. Maybe, because I'm old as dirt, the guy figures I'm not going to die of prostate cancer anyway? :notsure:

Maybe you said earlier, but was your surgery open, laproscopic, or robotic? If you don't want to share details, I'll understand.

Sorry to hear that, Matt. I hope everything goes well for you.

Given my family history, this is something I'll have to start keeping an eye on in the next 10 years or so.

Robotic. The possibility was high for a recurrence since my Gleason score was basically a 9:eek:. Very aggressive. I'll know tomorrow but I expect my urologist to put me back on Zytiga. I still have around $30K worth of Zytiga left. Was on Zytiga for 2 years. When my urologist took me off it he said don't toss the remaining pills out. Ha!

My urologist is pretty good. I'll know more tomorrow what his plan is going forward. My insurance paid over $248K just for the Zytiga pills. I think the overall total paid out so far is close to $800K....and counting

Had the robotic surgery back in 2011. I was 57 at the time, so far so good, still undetectable psa. I was actually back on the combine harvesting 12 days after surgery.

Just to add that my psa was 6.4 when I had my surgery, it went from 3.9 to 6.4 in a yr and a half. The worst part of the whole ordeal was the biopsy:eek:. If you ever have one make sure they put you under.

Oh....I had the biopsy prior to my surgery and not put under, then followed by 7 weeks, 45 sessions, of radiation.
My PSA triggered the biopsy. 11.4.:duh:

Started regular PSA's at 50 years old....my general practice doc always did a rectal exam yearly along with PSA....until I hit 55 because he said your PSA is steady and normal (it was 1.2...normal 0-4). Well it was 1.7 at 56...went up a little bit...I asked about a rectal exam...still said NO...PSA still normal....at 57, PSA went to 2.1...still no rectal needed he said...I left from there and made an appointment with a urologist....explained my concerns over no rectal exam for the last two years even though PSA was going up slightly...he said we are gonna do a rectal exam now....he said I had TWO NODULES...biopsy confirmed cancer in one of the nodules...robotic surgery done with no spread of the tumor to the border of the prostate...no spread to seminal vessels...no spread to lymph nodes...PSA has been less than 0.1 for 2 years. So fella's...ALWAYS INSIST ON A RECTAL EXAM...had my regular doc done one (like I asked him to) may have been able to find this earlier even though my PSA was always in the NORMAL range...

Ah yes the old rectal exam.:( My brother always used to joke about going to a dr for his check ups and how he'd check the size of their fingers before booking, lol.

Prayers for all you guys dealing with this...I welcome any prayers too. I found out my PSA went from 1.7 to 4.5 in 16 months. Went to a urologist and he suspects infection. It was pretty painful when he did the digital exam (felt like I was being poke with the sharp end of a pencil) Prior to that no pain or symptoms. Now, I'm on 28 days of antibiotics wait 6 weeks then new PSA test. :fingerscrossed:

After reading every post in this thread here I found it very emotional and quite tearful, I wish the absolute best for everyone going through these situations and here is a poem that I wrote and hopefully it’ll help soothe any
    discouraging thoughts

As I wake up this morning,
with blood coursing through my veins,
I think of my life that has been lived,
and my life to be lived once again

I feel every touch, every thought, every smell, every sight, every sound, once again

Each day is a blessed gift, given to me this morning,
    I feel this magic thought,
    In happiness I’m showing

For my life is so special
    In every sense today
    it is in my thoughts
    that make it this way

    Days will go by
    Days will end
But the thought of a new tomorrow,
will be my message to send

I feel that my life that I have lived,
Has been a great special gift,
With experiences had by friends and loved ones,
Has given my life a tremendous lift

    My tomorrow is as unpredictable,
As the weather as we know,
But waking up and enjoying it,
Will be another gift to show

    With all thoughts and prayers
    snomoman

Let's face it, we old(ish) geezers are a gold mine; Doctors are just trying to get all the ore out before we get the shaft.

The wife nearly had a stroke this morning because someone sat on their hands, and didn't get a ** "prior approval" for an effing $5K sleep study. We're not paying it. The "providers" can hassle out this technicality. My appointment schedule has just opened up until they get their **** straight.

A few months ago I had a pain in my left side... I never take any pain meds, but just sitting there reading the paper i went from no pain to where is the Tylenol. 2 max caps and I’m ok. 3.5 hours the pain came back. More Tylenol. Repeat 2 more times to go to bed. Middle of night one more Pill as I’m exceeding the daily dose. I’m thinking my motorcycle accident years ago is haunting me, 4 broken ribs, detached lung, self healing spleen....Next morning call the doc, got in at 2 pm. Pain still but not as bad. I understand why people want pain killers. Get CAT Scan done 2 days later. Blood tests. Nada, doc says I’m ok. In 2 weeks the pains are gone. They mention my bladder is over filled, prostrate is blocking. I visit the urologist doc last week, yearly visit. PSA is 2.9, he said highly unlikely for any cancer. CAT scan has a lot of detail. He pulls up the CAT, says he recommends surgery to a later the prostrate to open up the flow. He says if I don’t I’ll be in ER some night soon. Ok, I’ll listen. I go in for Covid test tomorrow. I get blasted next Monday. Fun fun.

    Detached lung? Great....
A 2.9 PSA isn't too bad at all. A small red flag only. Maybe the prostate is enlarged?

My PSA score was 2.1....normal is 0-4; biopsy (after rectal discovered nodules) was positive for cancer...prior to biopsy had negative CT and negative MRI of prostate...regular PSA's and rectal exams catch it early...you can't go by PSA score alone....my primary doc said no need for rectal exam because PSA was normal (he wanted to wait another year) I went to my urologist immediately after and he discovered the nodules that CT and MRI missed....watch for changes in PSA score...even if you have a normal score, it's the PSA velocity (rate of change in PSA score) that is important....an increase in PSA does not always mean it's cancer but if I had listened to my primary doctor, I would still be walking around with prostate cancer...

Since my PSA only changed from <0.1 to 0.3, the Axumin PET Scan is out for now unless my PSA goes up to 1.0. Getting another blood work to check PSA level and a bone scan and CAT scan to be done in the next 3 weeks. Heh....the bone scan and CAT Scan combined will cost more than $6K than the Axumin PET Scan......o_O.
    Edit
The Axumin PET Scan has a much higher resolution than other traditional scans and can pinpoint prostate cancers "better" and all organ functions for that matter.

Yes, an enlarged prostrate and oversized bladder as a result. Hopefully, the surgery will allow the bladder to get back to normal.

Monday will be busy. Cat Scan and Bone Scan scheduled starting at 10am. Supposed to be done by 2pm which will be great since I have to get my grandson to the dentist by 2:30. Fun times!
