@smslavin I went with McNeil. That can be another whole another thread in itself. A whole lot of unnecessary drama.

This is the first time I put on bedsides so I took a very conservative approach at first; cutting off as little as possible. I kept the wheelwell openings thinking I can manipulate the metal to make liners. Thats not gonna work. Use an angle grinder with cuttoff wheel for speed and somewhat precision. Pneumatic cut off wheel for more precise cuts. Sawzall warped the metal too much due to the serration in the blades. Have another angle grinder ready with a sanding wheel. Hasnt been that difficult YET.

Did the TSS and Rock Warrior overlap? I thought they were two different models. Your truck looks like a RW, but the TSS decals are throwing me off.

I dunno. I googled "TSS" and read that was a dealer thing where the RW is a manufacturer package. When I ran the VIN on the Toyota site, it said RW package. My guess is the dealer put the decals on...?? Unsure.

Got sidetracked for a little bit. Made some progress this weekend. Tailgate is on and made one support for the pass rear bedside. Saving funds for the suspension so bought a tailgate shell with some damage. Looking decent after some heat and pushing dents out. Speaking of suspension, thanks to NEO Garage my Total Chaos is in. Havent had a chance to even open the boxes yet.

Been too long since last update. Spendt way too much time bodyworking the fiberglass. Massive gaps, cracks in the fiberglass, poor fitment. Done with the majority of the fiberglass repairs. Painted the fenders and grille. 3 coats of primer sealer. 2-3 coats of paint. About 7 coats of clear. I'm happy with the results from my garage paint job.

Are there fitment issues between the bed and rear door and the front quarter panel and door? What an undertaking.

Even though this is mainly an off-roader and work truck, there were a lot of cosmetic stuff I couldnt live with. On the bedsides, theres a huge fiberglass section above the tires where the panels bowed in an inch and rear tail light had massive gaps. The front the fenders had cracks in the fiberglass. Poor fitment of tabs that had to be cut off. I made aluminum brackets to replace the tabs that bolt under the windshield because the tab angles were so far off. One didnt even reach the hole. Around the headlights there was an inch gap where I had to fiberglass. The corner pieces under the lights I had to pie cut and re-fiberglass. Otherwise an inch gap near the tire. Too much to go off about really. My wife kept saying, now I know why you didnt want to do this to a new truck.....

Glass is looking good for being so wrong. A little trimming and fitting is always expected, but at Mcneil’s price point, the shit should at least bolt up.

I have a 2012 Rock Warrior. I was not aware of the TSS package until I moved to MS, and now I see them everywhere. I think they are pretty common in the South. Nice truck and cool build!

During the 3rd gen conversion, I discovered the truck had been repainted. Thats probably when the rock warrior stickers got replaced with the TSS stickers. The Toyota site says the VIN decodes to a RW though.

thank you! Taking a break before tackling the suspension.

Good idea @65SNAKE. I currently have a light bar behind the bulge but if it dosent work out, it will a cool project. Good motivation to buy a larger 3D printer to make some of the parts

Wanted to go with more of a factory look incorporating stock bumpers. The fiberglass fenders are a bit wider than the stock bumper. Plus the wheel well opening is much larger so I bought a stock bumper and modified the end caps to match up with fender lines.
    Capture1.jpg

After cutting and welding up the endcaps, I decided I still wanted to space the bumper out a little. Calculated 3/8" spacers will leave about 1-1/2 to 2 threads once the bumper bolts are torqued down; so I bought some 3/8" aluminum plate from our local metal supplier for $6 per plate and made some spacers. Happy with the new look after painting the end caps to match the truck.
