Research yielding mixed reviews. People rave over both from halogen (of course) both the current price point is 1200 vs 800.

    What say you?

I would say the Morimoto's are worth the price over the OEM LED's. I originally had the halogen then upgraded to Morimoto LED bulbs. It helped but the light spread was not ideal. Then I upgraded to the OEM LED's and that was much better than the halogen housing with LED bulbs but wasn't as bright as I had hoped for. When the price was right for the Morimoto's I picked those up and it is a much better headlight than the OEM LED's. The light spread is better and brighter. Plus you get the option of the sequential turn signal which I love. Each step I took was better then the previous setup. I am happy with the Morimoto's and I don't see myself upgrading these lights unless something substantially better, that is DOT, comes out but I don't really see that happening.
The Morimoto's have sales all the time. I would say wait until the next sale comes up.

I looked at my options and compared the cost, so I installed LED bulbs in my OEM headlight housings and used the money I save to buy an Auburn HP LSD with installation kit.

I'm not sure if the discount works on headlights, but TRS always has a big black friday sale.

I put LED bulbs in my headlights and fogs too. I just couldn't justify the cost vs $50 bulbs in each ($100 total). Even they made a world of difference for the amount of drive at night where there are no street lights.

Haven't been flashed yet and the cut off and light pattern seems fine.

Tundra Devil (2).jpg I have the XB's in my 2nd Gen and absolutely love them. They are extremely bright, have an awesome pattern and look fantastic. Love the sequential turn signals :) The leveling motors are great too. I completed the set up with some Baja Designs fog lights and I am very happy with the results. Besides they look Bad Ass too

Good to know... Prices obviously increased. Somebody said the high beam on the oem led were higher in lux, lower in the low beam. Guess I need to find a sale.

Heres a link to @Roman at Cool springs,https://parts.toyotaofcoolsprings.c...embly-right-hand-led-black-housing-811100c210

$284 per side plus shipping, $568-$600, @iHacker harness figure $100 or so.

$700 or close to it under or over. Those are for a 3rd gen, if you have a second gen then ya its going to cost more

Coming from a headlight snob; you guys with LED bulbs in halogen housings have no idea. Good for you for saving a couple bucks, you're blinding us lol. I've been there and it's "brighter" but not really useful light.

I've got OEM LED headlights currently and while they're "bright" and the housings look great, again I feel like the pattern is full of random hot spots and lacks a sharp cutoff, doesn't reach far or wide. I've been spoiled by G5‐R HID retrofits in my last two Toyotas. I'm wondering if the the Morimoto XB will be on par with that or if they're just going to be too similar to the OEM LED? Am I only going to be happy with a projector retrofit now?

Reviewed by headlights Revolution Morimoto is brighter than stock led not much. But if you use high beam more, stock is more brighter. I liked the looks of Morimoto but if I buy it again I think I buy stock led. It’s a OEM

My 16s have the old and tired halogens. They hold up well, but lighting is dismal. I PMd HR, hoping they are giving us some sort of discount or package options.

Show me a vendor who will ship to Canada for a reasonable price and I'll consider it.

I've tested mine against a dark wall, stood in front of them, they are fine. Never been flashed, never had a dirty look, I have them pointed down slightly as well

I'm not saying they are perfect, but they aren't dangerous to anyone. I'm also guessing the LED bulbs used now are much better than they were a few years ago for light splatter and cut off etc and probably ever better than they were last year.

If I felt they were a danger to anyone, I wouldn't have used them. They are brighter, they are more useful and the LED fogs help as well.

My bulbs came recommended from someone who works at Toyota, so I trust they know.

Here is a good comparison of the OEM Sequoia vs Alpharex. I realize the Morimotos are way better than the alpharex (as far as the bright DRL) but look at the difference the OEM sequoia lights make. They modernize the front end much better. Both the shape and pattern of the DRL are far better IMO. This only goes for 2nd gens and sequoias though.IMG_4391.jpg

I almost popped for the OEM LEDs at HR, but the Black Friday discount doesn’t apply. Guess I stick with my Auxbeams. They are still a huge improvement over the stock halogen.

Are Morimoto's LED's on a PCB or "bulbs"? That alone would be a huge advantage over OEM LEDs
