the fella at the tire store said he can’t put 18” steel Toyota rims with 225 70 18 on my TT platinum instead of stock alum. 20” with 275 55 20 because it will damage my 4WD. Does anyone know this to be true?

Doesn't sound legit to me. SRs come stock with 18" steel wheels and my 4x4 SR5 came stock with 18" alloys. Albeit, mine are 275/65R18 but my understanding is that the SR comes with 18x7.5 wheels, which (I believe) would correspond to a 255/70R18.

Yeah the guy has no idea.

Get some alloys though, lighter weight than the steel

Are you switching all the wheels and tires to 18"?

Why are you putting such a small tire, width and OD on your truck?
